Perodua eMO EV is a near-production concept for brand’s first EV, Q4 2025 launch confirmed
This is the Perodua eMO EV, a near-production concept making its debut at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025. It previews Perodua’s first electric vehicle (EV), set to enter production in Q4 2025, with pre-production starting in September. This is the third concept in the Electric Motion Online (eMO) series, and is said to be “very, very close” to the final product.
Compared to the earlier eMO-II from KLIMS 2024, the latest eMO has evolved from a hatchback into a B-segment SUV with higher ground clearance and a more assertive stance. Perodua calls it a sporty silhouette with strong side character. The SUV rides on 18-inch wheels, the largest ever on a Perodua, and the proportions suggest it sits above the Myvi in size.
Design highlights include flush front door handles and hidden rear handles placed next to the windows. LED light bars run across both ends. The show car is painted in a dark Vantablack-style finish that hides most body contours under indoor lighting.
The interior is shown in cutaway form but features a nearly production-ready dashboard. What we can see is a digital instrument cluster and a rotary gear selector on a raised centre console, while physical controls are retained for the air-conditioning system.
Underneath, the eMO rides on Perodua’s own EV platform. Daihatsu has no suitable donor, and Perodua says this is entirely developed in-house. The chassis will be the first from the brand to use hot press-formed steel. Powertrain details are limited, but targets include 0–100 km/h in 6 to 7 seconds and a top speed of 165 km/h. The battery is a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) unit sourced from CATL, with a projected range of 400 to 410 km.
Battery leasing will be offered, making the eMO Malaysia’s first EV to adopt a Battery-as-a-Service model. This allows a lower entry price — previously floated at around RM80k without battery — and addresses long-term concerns about battery degradation. Perodua says the rental fee will be kept minimal and that customer feedback has been positive. Buyers who opt to purchase the battery outright will get an eight-year warranty.
Production will take place at Perodua’s new battery-EV facility in Sg Choh, with an initial output of 500 units per month.
