From RM 359k, 2026 Denza Z9GT launched in Malaysia– 1,155 PS, shooting brake EV

Denza Malaysia has launched the Denza Z9GT, a sport-centric yet practical premium EV priced at RM 358,800 and available in two exterior colours: Rime Gold and Obsidian Black. The launch also marks the first right-hand drive variant to launch in the Asia Pacific region. Following its exclusive RHD preview during the BYD Media Event in China last month, Denza’s flagship five-seater grand tourer is set to compete with the Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo, Audi e-Tron GT, and Lotus Emeya, among others. The Denza Z9GT is a fully imported unit.

Starting with its dimensions, the Denza Z9GT measures 5,180 mm long, 1,990 mm wide, 1,490 mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 3,125 mm. Although classified as a grand touring shooting brake, the Denza Z9GT’s dimensions are actually closer to those of an executive car, such as the BMW i5 Touring—placing it a size above the sports-focused Taycan Sport Turismo.

Designed around Denza’s “Elegance in Motion” philosophy, the Z9GT features a Z-shaped shoulder line, a muscular rear end, a long wheelbase, and grand touring shooting brake proportions. It is distinguished by dual-line LED headlights, automatically opening soft-close doors with Meteor Design Welcome Lights, as well as a double-layer silver-coated front windscreen and laminated side glass that help reduce heat and glare. A panoramic roof with dual powered sunshades further enhances cabin comfort.

At the rear, the Z9GT is equipped with striking Hourglass Taillights and dual rear spoilers, including an active lower spoiler that deploys automatically above 90 km/h to improve aerodynamics. Practicality is enhanced by a powered tailgate activated by stepping on a projected augmented reality logo, while the air suspension automatically lowers the rear of the vehicle to simplify loading and unloading.

Powering the Denza Z9GT is a tri-motor powertrain consisting of one electric motor driving the front axle and two electric motors driving the rear axle, providing all-wheel drive. The front motor produces 312 PS and 410 Nm of torque, while the two rear motors generate a combined 833 PS and 800 Nm. Altogether, the system delivers a staggering 1,155 PS and 1,210 Nm of torque. 0 – 100 km/h sprint in 2.7 seconds, while claimed range is at 701 km (NEDC).

Supplying the enormous amount of electrical energy required is BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery, a 1,000-volt battery pack with a capacity of 122.49 kWh. One of the Z9GT’s headline features is BYD Flash Charging technology, which enables ultra-fast DC charging from 10% to 70% in just five minutes, or from 10% to 97% in only nine minutes.

The Denza Z9GT rides on a double wishbone front and five-link independent rear suspension, paired with the DiSus-A Dual Chamber Air Suspension that continuously adjusts ride stiffness for a balance of comfort and dynamic handling. Malaysian-specification models will receive European suspension and damper tuning, while the adjustable air suspension offers ride heights ranging from 100 mm to 144 mm, with a standard height of 120 mm.

Despite its nearly 5.2-metre length, the Z9GT achieves a tight 4.62-metre turning radius thanks to its four-wheel steering system, which also enables crab walk and compass turn functions. Enhancing safety and stability are the Vehicle Motion Control (VMC) system, which individually manages torque at each wheel, and a High-speed Tyre Burst Control System designed to maintain vehicle stability during a tyre blowout at speeds of up to 180 km/h.

Stepping inside, the cabin features genuine leather upholstery, natural wood veneers, and a knitted fleece headliner. The interior is available in three colour schemes: Dark Chocolate + Red Velvet, Dark Chocolate + Perg Beige, and Full Black with black suede seats. Rime Gold can be paired with all three interior options, while Obsidian Black is not available with the Dark Chocolate + Red Velvet combination.

The front seats feature eight-way power adjustment with four-way lumbar adjustment, power-operated thigh support extension, and heating, ventilation, massage, and memory functions. The driver’s seat also comes with the Seat Dynamic Bolster System, which helps keep the driver securely in place during spirited driving.

Premium cabin amenities continue with a 20-speaker Devialet audio system featuring a pop-up dashboard centre speaker and multi-colour ambient lighting. The front centre armrest houses a 4-litre refrigerator capable of cooling between -6°C and 6°C, or heating between 35°C and 50°C. The Z9GT also features four-zone climate control, providing individual temperature adjustment for each seating position except the rear centre seat.

The Denza Z9GT’s rear seats offer electrically adjustable backrests and leg rests, as well as heating, ventilation, and massage functions. They can also be folded electrically to expand the 495-litre boot, while a 53-litre front trunk provides additional storage.

The cabin features six displays, including a 13.2-inch digital instrument cluster, 50-inch augmented reality head-up display, 17.3-inch central infotainment touchscreen, 13.2-inch front passenger display, 9.1-inch digital rear-view mirror, and a 6-inch rear climate control panel. The infotainment system comes with Google Play built in, while the DENZA Voice Assistant supports multiple languages, including Bahasa Malaysia, for hands-free control of navigation, media, calls, and messaging.

In terms of safety, the Denza Z9GT comes equipped with nine airbags and a comprehensive Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) as standard. A roof-mounted LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) sensor enables Level 3 autonomous driving capability. However, this feature is unlikely to be available in Malaysia initially, as the country’s legal and regulatory framework for Level 3 autonomous driving is still being developed by the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI).

To recap, the Denza Z9GT reached Malaysian shores with a price of RM 500,000, and it comes with a 6-year / 150,000 km vehicle warranty, a 6-year complimentary scheduled maintenance service worth RM 10,000, an 8-year / 160,000 km Drive Unit warranty, a 3-year complimentary flash charging, and a complimentary pair of the ultra-premium Denza in collaboration with Devialet earbuds worth RM 2,000.
