The 2022 Proton Saga MC2 has been launched today, starting at a price of RM 34,400. Available in 4 variants, the “1.3-L Premium S AT” is a new addition that sits at the top of the variant hierarchy.
- Proton Saga 1.3-L Standard MT – RM 34,400
- Proton Saga 1.3-L Standard AT – RM 38,300
- Proton Saga 1.3-L Premium AT – RM 41,300
- Proton Saga 1.3-L Premium S AT – RM 44,300

While both the Proton Iriz and Proton Persona have ditched the manual transmission, the Proton Saga is still holding on to the traditional H-pattern shifter for its base-spec variant.

New additions/changes on the Proton Saga include:
- New wheel design
- New Proton logo
- New climate control
- Atlas AS380 tyres
- Revised dampers
- Keyless entry with push start button (Premium S only)
- New 7-inch head unit OS with phone mirroring (Premium S only)
- ESC now available on Standard AT variant

The exterior changes are subtle, although the fan-blade wheel design looks striking on the Premium S variant thanks to the dual-tone finishing. Some front skirting has also been added to the Premium S variant, giving the car a sportier look.

On the inside, the dashboard has been refreshed slightly. There is a new control unit for the climate control, and a new OS is available on the 7-inch head unit for the Premium variant.
Typical of budget cars attempting to appear sportier and more premium, the usual red stitching and red accent treatment is to be expected in the Premium S version.

Convenience-wise, the MC2 Proton Saga is now equipped with keyless entry and a push start button on the Premium S variant.

The Premium S variant of the Proton Saga MC2 also gets a new OS for the 7-inch head unit which now features Android and Apple phone mirroring.
Performance-wise, the 2022 Proton Saga MC2 offers nothing new compared to its predecessor. The powertrain is still the same 1.3-L naturally-aspirated engine paired toa Hyundai-sourced 4-speed automatic gearbox.

Handling-wise, Proton says the dampers for the Proton Saga have been revised. A new set of tyres can also be seen on the Proton Saga. Previously equipped with Silverstone Kruizer NS800 tyres, the 2022 Proton Saga MC2 is equipped with Atlas AS380 tyres.
FYI, Atlas is a brand of China’s Linglong tyres.

Also new on the 2022 Proton Saga MC2 is the availability of ESC on all variants except for the manual Standard version of the car.
With all the new bells and whistles, the updated 2022 Proton Saga MC2 is ready to take on its long-time rival, the Perodua Bezza.
