Same powertrain with some CVT tweaks

Iriz 1.6 Executive

Like the older Iriz, the 2021 MC2 Proton Iriz is powered by the same 109 PS/150 Nm 1.6-litre Campro VVT engine which is paired with a CVT. Even the rugged-looking Iriz Active sports the same engine.

One 1.3-litre variant (95 PS/120 Nm) is also available in the Standard trim.

The CVT has been tweaked to give a sensation of 5 fixed gear ratios.

A brand-new grille and new bumpers can be seen on the new Proton Iriz MC2 facelift. Some tweaks to the front grille include a dechromed look and a red accent.

At the front, the 2021 Proton Iriz MC2 facelift gets LED lights (depending on variant) with daytime running lights on the bumper.

At the back of the new Proton Iriz, the changes are not so drastic apart from the new finish on the taillamps.

The Standard variant gets the old 7-inch touchscreen display from the pre-facelift version. The air-con can also be controlled via voice command besides having knob controls with a digital display.

No variants of the new Proton Iriz MC2 facelift are equipped with Android Auto/Apple CarPlay.

The B-segment hatchback is now equipped with a centre armrest, a new gear lever, new seat upholstery, 6 USB ports and one dedicated USB for the dashcam.

What’s different on the Proton Iriz Active?

The Proton Iriz Active comes is presented in a new colour, passion red, which is shared with the Proton X50. The black cladding (with fake bolts) gives the Iriz a rugged look which is complemented by the larger 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. It also gets a roof rail. The Iriz Active gets a beefier design on the front end.

Living up to the ‘Active’ image, the Proton Iriz sports a red seatbelt and red stitching on the half-leather seats, a new proper armrest, and steering wheel. Red accents can be seen on the center console and aircon vents. Completing the look are ‘Active’ emblems all over.

Still no active safety

The 2021 Proton Iriz MC2 facelift is still not equipped with AEB and Blind Spot assistance.
