Xiaomi YU7 EV SUV launched – up to 690 PS, 835 km range

Xiaomi has officially launched the YU7, its first electric SUV and the second model in its EV lineup, following the SU7 sedan. Initially previewed in December 2024, the YU7 is now ready for market with a full reveal of its specifications. It brings a combination of long range, high performance, fast charging, and a tech-rich cabin, aiming to compete in the premium EV SUV segment.

The Xiaomi YU7 is available in 3 variants:

  • YU7 RWD: Single motor driving the rear wheels, producing 235 kW (320 PS) and 528 Nm. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 240 km/h.
  • YU7 AWD: Dual-motor all-wheel drive setup with 365 kW (496 PS) and 690 Nm. It completes the 0–100 km/h sprint in 4.3 seconds, also with a 240 km/h top speed.
  • YU7 Max AWD: Dual-motor performance variant making 508 kW (690 PS) and 866 Nm. It hits 0–100 km/h in just 3.23 seconds and tops out at 253 km/h.

All variants of the YU7 are built on Xiaomi’s 800-volt EV platform, designed to support high-power charging and to improve efficiency.

Battery capacities and estimated CLTC driving range are as follows:

  • YU7 RWD96.3 kWh LFP battery, 835 km range
  • YU7 AWD96.3 kWh LFP battery, 770 km range
  • YU7 Max AWD101.7 kWh NCM battery, 760 km range

Using its 5.2C fast-charging system, the YU7 can recover 620 km of range in 15 minutes, or charge from 10% to 80% in just 12 minutes.

The YU7 measures 4,999 mm long, 1,996 mm wide, and 1,600 mm tall, with a 3,000 mm wheelbase. Compared to the SU7 sedan, it’s 2 mm longer, 33 mm wider, and 160 mm taller, while maintaining the same wheelbase.

Visually, the YU7 shares much of its front and side profile with the SU7, especially up to the rear doors. Differences appear in the SUV-specific design elements such as black wheel arch mouldings and a taller stance. The rear features a full-width tail light with pronounced vertical arcs and a roof-mounted spoiler.

The YU7 rides on a double wishbone front suspension and a five-link rear suspension, supported by dual-chamber air springs and continuously controlled dampers. The setup allows for 5 levels of ride height, with an adjustment range of 75 mm and a maximum ground clearance of 222 mm.

The air suspension system offers 40% variation in spring rates and 10% more damping adjustment compared to the SU7 sedan, contributing to a smoother and more adaptable ride.

Braking is handled by Brembo 4-piston fixed calipers, which can stop the YU7 from 100–0 km/h in 33.9 metres.

Xiaomi put safety first when developing the YU7. Hence the YU7 has:

  • 2,200 MPa ultra-high-strength steel for door impact beams
  • Hot-formed tubing in the A- and B-pillars for added structural integrity
  • High-strength steel and aluminium making up 90.2% of the body structure
  • Torsional rigidity rated at 47,610 Nm per degree

Reinforcements increase load-bearing capacity in the A-pillars by 35% and B-pillars by 70.5%, offering better protection during collisions.

Inside the YU7 its screen-galore, the YU7 follows the same tech-oriented layout as the SU7 sedan but adds more comfort and space. Key features include:

  • 1.1-metre-wide HyperVision Panoramic Display across the base of the windscreen (1,200 nits brightness)
  • 16.1-inch central infotainment touchscreen
  • Two rear entertainment screens
  • “Zero gravity” Nappa leather front seats with 123° recline and 10-point massage
  • Electrically adjustable rear seats
  • 6.7-inch rear touchscreen for media and climate control

The YU7 provides practical storage for everyday use:

  • Rear boot: 678 litres, expandable to 1,758 litres with the seats folded
  • Front boot (frunk): 141 litres
  • Cabin storage: 71 litres spread across compartments

For advanced driving functions, the YU7 is equipped with:

  • 1 lidar sensor
  • 1 millimetre-wave radar
  • 11 HD cameras
  • 12 ultrasonic sensors

These systems are powered by Nvidia’s Drive AGX Thor platform, capable of 700 TOPS (trillions of operations per second), which supports Xiaomi’s assisted driving features.

The Xiaomi YU7 will go on sale in July 2025 in China. Prices will be announced closer to the launch date.
