From RM219k, 2026 Volvo EX30 Cross Country launched in Malaysia – Rugged-up, AWD, 437km range

Volvo Car Malaysia has launched the Volvo EX30 Cross Country at RM218,888, joining the existing Volvo EX30 Ultra variant. From now on, the Volvo EX30 Cross Country replaces the Volvo EX30 Ultra Twin Performance variant. The new Volvo EX30 lineup and its prices are listed below.

  • Volvo EX30 Ultra – RM198,888
  • Volvo EX30 Cross Country – RM218,888

The Volvo EX30 Cross Country is essentially a ruggedised version of the regular Volvo EX30, equipped with rugged exterior features and a taller ride height to make the compact EV more off-road friendly. We’ve been told by Volvo that even the damping tuning has been slightly adjusted for gravel driving. The ‘Cross Country’ nameplate was first used in Malaysia for the Volvo V70 XC back in 1997; the Volvo EX30 Cross Country subsequently became the first EV to carry the suffix.

Exterior-wise, the Volvo EX30 Cross Country gets blacked-out front and rear sections, together with front and rear skid plates, as well as matte-black wheel arch extensions and mudguards. As mentioned, the ride height has been increased by 19 mm, while the wheel sizes remain the same at 19 inches, albeit with a different design. A unique little detail is the artwork at the front fascia, depicting the topography of the Kebnekaise mountain range in Arctic Sweden.

With two electric motors, each mounted at the front and rear axles, the Volvo EX30 Cross Country produces a combined maximum power output of 428 PS and a combined maximum torque figure of 543 Nm. 0–100 km/h acceleration takes 3.7 seconds, with a top speed of 180 km/h. Driving range is rated at up to 437 km (WLTP).

The lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery is rated at 69 kWh, with 65 kWh usable, and can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 27 minutes with DC fast charging at 175 kW. AC charging, meanwhile, is rated at 11 kW, taking eight hours to charge from empty to full.

Stepping inside, the Volvo EX30 Cross Country bears similar features to the Ultra variant, with a panoramic roof up top, a vertical 12.3-inch centre display equipped with built-in Google services, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a Harman Kardon sound system and two-zone automatic climate control with an Air Quality System.

The Volvo EX30 Cross Country is offered in three exterior colours: Crystal White, Vapour Grey, and Cloud Blue. All three options are paired with an Indigo interior featuring textile/Nordico upholstery and denim-coloured door panels.

As expected from the ‘Selamat’ brand, the Volvo EX30 Cross Country comes with a comprehensive suite of ADAS features, such as Pilot Assist, Lane Keeping Aid, Blind Spot Information System with Steer Assist, Collision Avoidance & Mitigation, Intersection Autobrake, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, as well as safety features such as a 360-degree camera with 3D view and seven airbags.

The Volvo EX30 Cross Country is priced at RM218,888 and comes with a five-year, unlimited-mileage vehicle warranty and an eight-year/160,000 km battery warranty. For the first 100 buyers, Volvo Car Malaysia is offering a launch package worth nearly RM21,800. The package includes a RM12,000 cash rebate, a complimentary Volvo Wallbox worth RM3,990, a load carrier valued at RM2,098, and a roof basket worth RM3,680.
