Toyota bZ4X Touring unveiled: family-focused EV SUV set for Europe in 2026

Toyota has pulled the wraps off the new bZ4X Touring, a more spacious and rugged variant of its electric SUV, designed specifically to cater to families and active lifestyles. Unveiled ahead of its scheduled launch in Europe in spring 2026, the bZ4X Touring builds on the brand’s growing battery electric vehicle (BEV) portfolio with a model that prioritises space, versatility and all-weather capability.

The new variant is positioned as a practical alternative to the standard bZ4X, offering significant improvements in cargo space and power. Toyota says the Touring is ideal for those who want an EV without compromising on everyday practicality or outdoor readiness.

At 4,830 mm long and 1,670 mm tall, the bZ4X Touring is 140 mm longer and 20 mm taller than the base model. This increase in dimensions translates into 33% more boot space — now at 600 litres, up by 148 litres — which Toyota says is enough to accommodate family holiday luggage or sports equipment with ease.

The company has also included a 40:60 split rear seat layout to make it easier to extend storage space as needed. Toyota highlights that the model’s dedicated BEV architecture allowed for compact drivetrain components and a flat cabin floor, freeing up additional interior room.

The Touring will be available in both front- and all-wheel drive, powered by a 74.7 kWh lithium-ion battery. Toyota targets a range of up to 560 km on the WLTP cycle, depending on the configuration.

Front-wheel drive models will deliver up to 224 hp (165 kW), while the AWD version boasts a class-leading 380 hp (280 kW), making it Toyota’s most powerful BEV to date. The AWD variant also incorporates the brand’s XMODE drive control and Grip Control features for added traction on rougher terrain — a clear nod to its outdoors-oriented positioning.

Both versions support DC fast charging at up to 150 kW, and come equipped with either an 11 kW or 22 kW AC onboard charger, depending on variant. The battery also benefits from Toyota’s latest cooling and preconditioning technology, designed to optimise charging performance in all climates.

Towing capacity stands at 1,500 kg, further underlining the vehicle’s practicality for family trips and recreational use.

Toyota has differentiated the Touring from the standard bZ4X with a range of design tweaks aimed at evoking a more adventurous character. These include black plastic wheel arch extensions, black alloy wheels, and a set of roof rails capable of handling loads up to 70 kg. A revised rear end with new LED lighting and bumper design gives the Touring a more muscular stance.

A new exterior colour — Brilliant Bronze — will be offered exclusively on the Touring, while inside, buyers will find a redesigned centre console and dashboard, along with a new “City Moss” interior trim colour. A 14-inch multimedia screen will be standard, with a BEV-optimised navigation system that helps plan routes based on the battery’s state of charge and available charging stations.

As with all of Toyota’s new electric vehicles, the bZ4X Touring will be backed by the company’s Battery Care Program, offering coverage for up to 10 years or one million kilometres, subject to annual health checks.

The bZ4X Touring will join a rapidly expanding Toyota BEV line-up in Europe, which now includes the all-new Urban Cruiser, C-HR+ and the updated bZ4X. Toyota says the Touring strengthens its offering in the electric B-, C- and D-segment SUV categories by providing more choice in powertrain and body style — all underpinned by Toyota’s emphasis on quality, durability and reliability.

Further technical specifications and pricing details are expected closer to the model’s market debut in 2026.
