Delivery of MG5 in Malaysia begins with first batch of over 20 units

Delivery of the MG5 sedan in Malaysia has begun with the first batch of the car delivered to over 20 customers at a recent event in Glenmarie. This takes place just a month after the car was launched in October.

According to SAIC Motor Malaysia, the success of the delivery of the MG5 is attributed to “the seamless collaboration among 18 strategically located MG Authorised Dealerships”, ensuring customers receive their cars promptly.

Back in October this year. SAIC Motor Malaysia launched the MG5 sedan in a single variant only and with an official price tag of RM93,900. With a RM7,000 introductory rebate, the price of the car is reduced to RM86,900. As a B-segment saloon, it supposedly rivals the likes of the Toyota Vios, Honda City, and Proton Persona.

Powering the MG5 is a naturally aspirated 1.5-litre 4-cylinder engine that puts out 114 PS and 150 Nm at maximum. The 1.5-litre engine is paired with a CVT (with 8 virtual gears), and all power is sent to the front wheels only.

Some of the highlights of the MG5 include its size, which is the largest in its segment. It also gets a fancy instrument cluster with a G-force meter, a head unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a power-adjustable driver seat, and a sunroof.

The MG5 also made headlines for its 0-star ANCAP rating, and SAIC Motor Malaysia has an explanation for this matter. You can read more about it here (together with our review on it).

SAIC Motor Malaysia Chief Operating Officer, Lee Wen Hsiang said, "The MG5 has truly resonated with a segment of buyers who prioritize style and individuality, and we’re thrilled to celebrate this milestone alongside our customers. Through events like these, we’re able to engage directly with our customers, listen to their feedback, and gather meaningful insights into their satisfaction levels. This ongoing connection with our customers not only helps us improve our service but also strengthens the community united by the spirit of MG.”
