2026 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X: America’s hypercar arrives with 1,250 HP and AWD fury

After tearing up Circuit of the Americas in the new 2025 ZR1, their 1,064-horsepower, rear-wheel-drive missile that reaches 60 mph in just 2.2 seconds and charges toward a 233-mph top speed, Chevrolet wasted no time in revealing what comes next. And it’s even more extreme.

Introducing the 2026 Corvette ZR1X, the most advanced and powerful Corvette ever made. This is more than just a faster version of the ZR1. It’s a full-fledged hybrid all-wheel-drive supercar, designed to challenge exotic machinery from Ferrari, McLaren, and Mercedes-AMG. With performance to match and a price that undercuts them all, the ZR1X redefines what an American performance car can be.

Unveiled quietly on a rooftop in Austin, the ZR1X is the long-anticipated, electrified, all-wheel-drive Corvette. It builds on the ZR1’s foundation but adds an upgraded hybrid front axle from the E-Ray, turning the car into a true hypercar.

The ZR1X combines the same LT7 V8 with an electric motor at the front axle, producing a total of 1,250 horsepower and around 973 lb-ft of torque.

This boost transforms its performance:

  • 0–60 mph in under 2.0 seconds
  • Quarter-mile in under 9.0 seconds (on a prepped drag strip)

It’s not just fast in a straight line. The electric front axle assists with traction and torque distribution, making the ZR1X more confident in corners and capable in all conditions.

The ZR1X uses a 1.9-kWh lithium-ion battery, with 1.5 kWh of usable energy—about 26 percent more than the E-Ray. This increase allows the electric motor to contribute power at speeds up to 160 mph, compared to 150 mph in the E-Ray.

You’ll find smart features like:

  • Push to Pass, which delivers maximum combined power on command
  • Qualifying Mode, for short bursts of peak performance
  • Endurance Mode, which manages energy to sustain power over longer sessions

The system is designed for aggressive driving, with quick discharge and recharge cycles. Even during hard use, it’s nearly impossible to deplete the battery enough to lose electric assist.

Engineers say the lighter, rear-drive ZR1 is still slightly faster through mid-corner sections. But on corner exit, the ZR1X has a clear advantage. Regenerative braking also helps with balance and control under hard braking.

According to development engineers, the ZR1X maintains up to 1.3 g of acceleration in the first three gears. In simple terms, it launches like nothing else wearing a Chevy badge, and it’s faster than many of the world’s elite hypercars.

Visually, the ZR1X remains understated. Look closely and you’ll spot unique badging, an additional radiator up front, and shared aero elements with the E-Ray and ZR1. Carbon-fiber wheels and an aggressive aero package are available for those who want a more dramatic look.

Inside, all 2026 Corvettes benefit from a redesigned interior. Highlights include:

  • Larger central screens
  • A 6.6-inch auxiliary driver display
  • Relocated HVAC controls for easier access
  • A new drive mode selector
  • A more refined, cohesive layout

It’s a meaningful upgrade that finally gives the C8 cabin the finish its performance deserves.

Chevrolet hasn’t released official pricing yet. Based on how the E-Ray is positioned, estimates suggest:

  • ZR1X coupe starting around $210,000 (RM895,000)
  • ZR1X convertible from roughly $220,000 (RM937,000)
  • Fully loaded 3LZ convertibles approaching $275,000 (RM1,172,000)

If Chevrolet surprises with a $199,995 base price, it wouldn’t be out of character. Corvette pricing has always been aggressive compared to European rivals.

Unlike some limited-run supercars, there are no planned production caps. Order one, and Chevy will build it. That approach continues the Corvette tradition of making extreme performance more accessible, relatively speaking.

With the ZR1X, Chevrolet isn’t just offering the most powerful Corvette ever. It’s presenting a credible alternative to multi-million-dollar hypercars.

Old-school purists may bark at the hybrid system or the price tag. But anyone paying attention will see that the ZR1X isn’t just fast, it’s a technological tour de force, combining raw American power with cutting-edge hybrid engineering.

This is not the Corvette of old. This is America’s hypercar. And it’s ready to leave a new mark on the world’s fastest circuits.
