Volvo Car Malaysia has announced that the updated 2025 Volvo XC40 B5 Plus is now open for bookings, with a new price tag of RM278,888, approximately RM10,000 more expensive than it used to be.

Among the new items for the 2025 updated version of the Volvo XC40 B5 Plus are:

All else, the Volvo XC40 B5 Plus remain unchanged, with the same mild hybrid powertrain retained. A big component of the mild hybrid system is a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that puts out 249 hp and 350 Nm. A smaller part of the system is an electric motor that puts out 14 hp and 40 Nm. The transmission in use is still an 8-speed Geartronic automatic transmission, and power is sent to all four wheels.

Inside, it still gets the same Charcoal Connect Sued textile/Microtech in Charcoal treatment. It is also adorned with aluminium décor, a sculpted gear shifter, and a tailored sport steering wheel finished in charcoal.

With the introduction of the new updated 2025 version of the Volvo XC40 B5 Plus, the Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) Volvo XC40 T5 is no longer available. Thus customers have the choice between the B5 mild-hybrid (MHEV) XC40 B5 and the fully electric XC40 Recharge

Volvo Car Malaysia Marketing & PR Director, Patricia Yaw said, “We recognise the growing demand for diverse options from our customers. That’s why we’re excited to introduce the updated Volvo XC40 B5 Plus — an ideal bridge for those exploring more eco-friendly driving solutions. At Volvo, we are committed to offering a vehicle for every lifestyle. Whether it’s a mild hybrid, plug-in hybrid, or a fully electric model, each option reflects our dedication to a greener future. Most importantly, these choices don’t compromise the comfort and familiarity our drivers have come to expect.”
