MG Cyberster launched in Malaysia, RM320k – 503PS, 725Nm, 0-100 in 3.2 secs
The first EV roadster in Malaysia has been launched, and it is the MG Cyberster. Available in a single variant only, the MG Cyberster fetches a price of RM319,900. It was launched at KLIMS 2024, and its RWD variant is also being previewed at the auto show.
The MG Cyberster was first previewed to Malaysians back in August this year, alongside the MG HS during the launch of the MG5 sedan. The EV roadster stood out with its scissor doors, and the simple fact that it was basically the first EV roadster in Malaysia.
With looks that suggest an exhilarating experience, the MG Cyberster for Malaysia is the dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) version that puts out 503 PS (375 kW) and 725 Nm. With this setup, the Cyberster is able to do the century sprint in just 3.2 seconds, onward to a top speed of 208 km/h.
And to help it handle all that speed, the MG Cyberster is underpinned by a double wishbone suspension setup at the front and a 5-link rear suspension setup at the back. The Cyberster sits on a set of 20-inch wheels with a staggered setup (245 mm front, 275 mm rear), and Brembo disc brakes sit behind the large 20-inch wheels.
As for its EV numbers, the MG Cyberster packs a 77-kWh battery that provides 446 km of range (WLTP) It can be charged at a maximum rate of 7 kW with AC charging and a maximum rate of 150 kW with DC charging. The former takes 10.5 hours to charge from 10% to 100% and the latter take 38 minutes to charge from 10% to 80%.
Among the standard exterior items on the MG CYberster are automatic LED headlights with DRLs, LED taillights, a retractable soft top, and the hard-to-miss scissor doors. Speaking of which, the scissor doors operate electrically with the touch of a button. Four colour options are available for the MG Cyberster, namely Dynamic Red, Camden Grey, English White, and Inca Yellow.
Inside, the Malaysian-spec Cyberster us equipped with a “Sport Interior Package”. The driver seat gets a 6-way power adjustment with lumbar support, and the seats are upholster in a combination of leather and Alcantara inserts. As for the steering wheel, it is wrapped in Nappa leather. One highlight of the MG Cyberster’s cabin is it’s tri-screen setup for the driver. This includes a main 10.25-inch display and 2 7-inch auxiliary screens on both sides. And for entertainment purposes, the Cyberster is equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen head unit and an 8-speaker Bose audio system.
In the safety department, the MG Cyberster is well-equipped with a complete suite of advanced safety features. This includes Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Intelligent Speed Assist (ISA), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keep Assist (LKA), Traffic Jam Assist (TJA), Lane Change Assist (LCA), Intelligent High Beam Control (IHC), Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Door Opening Warning (DOW), and a 360° View Camera with Front & Rear Parking Sensors.
Included in the price of the MG Cyberster is a 7-year/150,000 km general warranty, and 8-year/180,000 km high-voltage battery warranty, and an 8-year/160,000 km drive motor and motor control unit warranty.
