Ford Ranger XLT Plus Special Edition launched in Malaysia, RM144k
There’s a new special edition of the Ford Ranger in Malaysia, and it is the 2024 Ford Ranger XLT Plus Special Edition. Based on the XLT Plus variant, as its name suggests, the Ford Ranger XLT Plus Special Edition costs RM143,888 on-the-road without insurance.
Among the enhancements that this special edition brings to the XLT Plus variant are:
- Matte black finish for sports bar
- Bolt-on matte black fender flares
- Matte sports decal
- LED-illuminated scuff plates
- Pull-out cupholders below front-side air vents
And while the Ford Ranger XLT Plus is available in 4 colour options, the Ford Range XLT Plus only gets 2 of the 4 colour options. While the XLT Plus can be had in Arctic White, Lightning Blue, Meteor Grey, or Absolute Black. The XLT Plus Special Edition can only be had in Meteor Grey or Absolute Black.
All else, the XLT Plus Special Edition is exactly the same as the XLT Plus, with its 17-inch alloy wheels, 230 mm ground clearance, and 800 mm water wading depth. It also gets the same underpinnings with the leaf spring setup at the back.

Besides the pull-out cupholders underneath the front side air vents and the LED-illuminated scuff plates, the XLT Plus Special Edition doesn’t add anything else over the XLT Plus. It still gets the same 10.1-inch touchscreen headunit (with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 6-speaker audio system, an 8-inch TFT multi information display.

Powering the Ford Range XLT Plus Special Edition is still the same 2.0-litre inline-4 turbocharged engine that puts out 210 PS @ 3,750 rpm and 500 Nm @ 1,750-2,000 rpm. Paired with the engine is the brand’s signature 10-speed automatic transmission. The truck gets a part-time 4WD system that comes with a rear e-locking differential.
As a work-oriented pickup truck with some additional creature comforts, the Range XLT Special Edition comes with the essential safety items. This includes things like:

- Automated Emergency Braking (AEB)

Included in the RM143,888 price tag of the Ford Ranger XLT Plus Special Edition is a 5-year/160,000 km manufacturer warranty. Customers can also purchase the Extended Warranty Plan (EWP) extends the warranty by up to an additional 2 years or 40,000 km (whichever comes first).
