2026 BMW M2 CS debuts with 530 PS and lightweight goodies
Fresh from its showing at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, the BMW M2 CS has now made its full debut, marking the arrival of a more extreme iteration of the G87-generation M2. As with its CS-badged predecessors, the formula is simple but effective—more power, sharper handling, reduced weight, and a generous dose of carbon fibre.
At the heart of the M2 CS lies the same S58 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged inline-six as in the M3 and M4, but here it’s tuned to deliver a punchier 530 PS (523 hp or 390 kW) at 6,250 rpm and 650 Nm of torque from 2,750 to 5,730 rpm. That’s a significant jump from the regular M2, which makes 480 PS and 600 Nm in its standard automatic guise.
This power is exclusively sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission. As a result, the M2 CS rockets from 0-100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds, beating the standard car’s 4.0 seconds (auto) and 4.2 seconds (manual). Top speed is pegged at 302 km/h, surpassing the M2’s 285 km/h when fitted with the optional M Driver’s Package.
The M2 CS sits 8 mm lower than its donor car and comes with model-specific suspension tuning, including revised springs, dampers, and control systems. Stopping power is provided by M Compound brakes with red calipers as standard, though customers can upgrade to the more hardcore M Carbon ceramic brake system.
BMW’s obsession with weight savings is evident throughout the M2 CS. The car sheds around 30 kgcompared to the standard M2, thanks to the use of carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) in key areas. These include the M Carbon roof, front splitter, rear diffuser, boot lid with integrated ducktail, and even parts of the interior like the centre console.
Aerodynamic tweaks go beyond visuals too. The front end features a black kidney grille with optimised air inlets, while the rear sports that distinctive ducktail spoiler—all contributing to better high-speed stability.
The M2 CS rolls on staggered forged wheels—19 inches up front (275/35 tyres) and 20 inches at the rear (285/30 tyres). Buyers can opt for either track-focused or standard performance tyres, depending on intended use.
Four exterior finishes are on offer:
- Sapphire Black
- BMW Individual Velvet Blue
- M Brooklyn Grey
- M Portimao Blue
All come with a subtle yet sporty ‘M2 CS’ logo with a red outline on the rear.
Inside, the performance theme continues with M Carbon bucket seats upholstered in Merino leather, complemented by Alcantara accents on the dashboard and steering wheel. The latter also gets a red 12 o’clock marker, reinforcing the car’s track-ready character.
Other CS-exclusive features include:
• CFRP centre console
• Anthracite headliner
• Illuminated ‘CS’ logos on the headrests and door sills
The BMW M2 CS will be built in limited numbers at the brand’s San Luis Potosi plant in Mexico, with key markets including the United States, Germany, and China. Deliveries are expected to begin in late summer 2025, with pricing set at €115,000 (approximately RM553,000) in Germany.
