Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 launched in Malaysia: luxury roadster from RM2.25 million

Mercedes-Benz Cars Malaysia has launched the Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series, the first fully open-top Maybach in the brand’s history. Launched alongside Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Kuala Lumpur 2026, the luxurious two-seater roadster comes with a hefty price tag of RM 2,250,000.

The Red Ambience exterior motif is finished in striking MANUFAKTUR Garnet Red Metallic, while an obsidian black bonnet adorned with the Maybach pattern in Graphite Grey Uni gives the Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 plenty of ‘look-at-me’ energy. Customers can also opt for the White Ambience motif, which swaps the red exterior elements for MANUFAKTUR Opalite White Mango.

The Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series features an illuminated chrome-finished grille and MAYBACH lettering, an upright Mercedes star and chrome bonnet fin, as well as an obsidian black bonnet featuring a hand-applied graphite grey Maybach pattern finished with multiple layers of matte lacquer. Rose-gold accents adorn the headlights, while the dedicated front skirt, chrome windscreen frame and sill inserts further enhance its appearance.

The extensively insulated black fabric soft top also features a subtle anthracite Maybach pattern, while the rear gains Maybach-branded taillights, a chrome-trimmed rear skirt, unique diffuser and tailpipe designs. An aerodynamic double scoop behind the seats, together with 21-inch forged five-hole wheels, completes the SL’s distinctive blend of elegance and sportiness. The silver brake callipers also feature MAYBACH lettering.

The Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series is engineered to deliver a refined and quiet driving experience, with features including a noise-optimised exhaust, extensive insulation and absorption, comfort-focused suspension tuning and soft engine mounts. Power comes from a 4.0-litre biturbo V8 producing 585 PS and 800 Nm of torque, paired with a smooth-shifting 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission with adapted accelerator pedal characteristics for both effortless and dynamic performance.

Handling and ride comfort are further enhanced by rear-axle steering, which combines agility with stability, and an electronic rear-axle locking differential that improves power distribution and traction. The model also features ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL suspension and a front-axle lift system capable of raising the front by up to 30 mm to help protect the bumper from damage.

Inside, the Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series features crystal white sustainably tanned Nappa leather across the door panels, centre console, comfort seats and space behind the seats, with a new floral seat design. Galvanised seat backrests and silver chrome trim add contrast, while the crystal white MANUFAKTUR MICROCUT microfibre roof liner further elevates the cabin. The interior also features Maybach-specific displays on the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 11.9-inch centre screen, alongside a wood-and-leather multifunction steering wheel, stainless-steel pedals and illuminated Maybach door sills.

Comfort is further enhanced by AIRSCARF, which delivers warm air around the occupants’ necks for year-round open-top driving. While this feature is particularly useful in colder climates, it may be less relevant in Malaysia’s hot and humid weather. The ENERGIZING Package Plus combines seat climate control, ambient lighting, multi-contour seats and massage functions. Other highlights include a Burmester high-end 3D surround sound system, head-up display, high-pile floor mats and a high-gloss white vehicle key with rose-gold detailing.

Safety and driver assistance features include the Driving Assistance Package, Parking Package with Memory Parking Assist, MAGIC VISION CONTROL and GUARD 360° vehicle protection Plus with Digital Extras.
