2022 Lexus RZ teased, first Lexus EV with dedicated BEV platform

Lexus has given us a teaser on the Lexus RZ, its first fully-electric car to built on a dedicated EV paltform.

Lexus hasn’t said much, literally, only providing us with a one-sentence press release with three pictures and a video attached.

The Lexus UX 300E may have been the first fully-electric car from Lexus, but it is not built on a fully-dedicated BEV platform.

The images were initially over-exposed to hide the details of the RZ, but a little tweaks with Photoshop has helped us to see the RZ a bit more clearly.

If there’s anything that has given us a hint on the appearance of the Lexus RZ, it was the Lexus LF-Z concept car that premiered in March 2021. At the moment, we think the Lexus RZ shares the same platform with the Toyota bZ4X and the Subaru Solterra.

And if (and only if) technical specifications of the Toyota bZ4X are anything to go by, the battery capacity could be 71.4 kWh, providing a 500-km WLTP range. The powertrain, on the other hand, could consist of a 150-kW (203-PS) front electric motor and an 80-kW (109 PS) rear electric motor.
