2022 Toyota Yaris GR Sport revealed, in case you couldn’t afford the GR Yaris

The 2022 Toyota Yaris GR Sport has been revealed for the European market, based on the hybrid-version of the 2020 Toyota Yaris.

Yes, the “actual” Yaris too has now been given the GR Sport treatment, a similar treatment that we can see in the Toyota Vios GR Sport that we get in Malaysia.

The hybrid powertrain is retained for the Toyota Yaris GR Sport, but the suspension has been tuned and body rigidity has been enhanced to provide a more comfortable, responsive, and engaging drive.

Complemented by 18-inch alloy wheels, that’s pretty much all the handling/performance enhancement that the “GR Sport” treatment provides.

The powertrain in place is a mild-hybrid consisting of the M15A-FXE 3-cylinder, 1.5-litre engine (115 PS/120 Nm) and a permanent magnet synchronous motor producing 59 PS/ 141 Nm. The transmission in use is Toyota’s Direct-shift CVT (D-CVT).

Cosmetic enhancements are aplenty for the Toyota Yaris GR Sport, with the main highlight being the model-specific Dynamic Grey exterior paint finish.

Shown in Dynamic Grey

The Toyota Yaris GR Sport gets red machined-decal lines on its wheels, “GR SPort” emblems at the front and rear, a G-motif mesh grille, and a new rear diffuser design.

On the inside, the GR Sport treatment includes red stitching on most of the new cloth upholstery, gun-metal grey trim accents, and a sleuth of “GR Sport” logos

Ultrasuede upholstery and integrated seat heaters are optional on the Toyota Yaris GR Sport.

Set to be available in Europe in Q2  2022, the Toyota Yaris GR Sport is the perfect car if you’re only keen on going half-way with this whole GR thing.
