2026 Toyota Yaris Cross launched in Malaysia – from RM 100k, HEV and Petrol

UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) has launched the Toyota Yaris Cross with a starting price of RM 99,900, and it comes in two variants: the Yaris Cross 1.5S and the Yaris Cross 1.5S HEV. Categorised as a B-segment SUV, the Toyota Yaris Cross is set to compete with its sister model, the Perodua Traz, as well as a myriad of competitors, including the Proton X50, Honda HR-V, Jaecoo J5, and the recently launched Mitsubishi Xforce.

  • Toyota Yaris Cross 1.5S HEV – RM109,900
  • Toyota Yaris Cross 1.5S – RM99,900

Starting with the dimensions, the Toyota measures 4,310 mm long, 1,770 mm wide, and 1,615 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,620 mm. Ground clearance measures 212 mm. Interestingly, the Toyota Yaris Cross is 40 mm shorter in height but has 2 mm more ground clearance than the Perodua Traz. From a styling perspective, the Toyota Yaris Cross is almost identical to the Perodua Traz, apart from small details that may be missed at first glance, such as the front grille trim, wheel design and size, as well as the addition of roof rails. An additional RM400 is required for the Platinum Pearl White exterior colour option.

Among the exterior features on the Toyota Yaris Cross 1.5S for both variants are:

  • LED headlights with LED DRLs and follow-me-home function
  • LED front fog lamps
  • LED clearance lamps
  • LED rear combination lamps
  • Power-adjustable, auto-fold side mirrors with puddle lamps
  • Rear spoiler with 3rd brake lamp
  • Roof rails
  • 18-inch wheels
  • 215/55 R18 tyres
  • Dark Turquoise, Silver Metallic, Attitude Black, Spicy Scarlet SE, and Platinum Pearl White exterior colours

Under the bonnet, as expected, the non-hybrid Toyota Yaris Cross gets an identical powertrain setup to its Perodua sister, powered by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated 4-cylinder engine producing 106 PS and 138 Nm of torque, mated to a CVT. As for the HEV variant, it is powered by a 1.5-litre hybrid naturally aspirated 4-cylinder engine producing 91 PS and 121 Nm of torque, also mated to a CVT. It is, however, supplemented by an electric motor generating 80 PS, resulting in a combined power output of 111 PS. Both variants are front-wheel drive.

The table below shows the powertrain details for both variants of the Toyota Yaris Cross.
