Hyundai Stargazer teased for Malaysia – B-segment MPV, 1.5L NA, set for Q4 2026
Hyundai Motor Malaysia (HMY) has just teased the Hyundai Stargarzer, a B-segment MPV that will arrive in Malaysia in Q4 2026 during its Chinese New Year Event for the media. Over in Indonesia, the Hyundai Stargazer has been one of the options, competing against other MPV vehicles such as the Toyota Avanza/Veloz, Daihatsu Xenia, Mitsubishi Xpander, Kia Carens, and the second-generation Honda BR-V, which is not available here in Malaysia.
In Indonesia, the Hyundai Stargazer has three distinct variants: the Hyundai Stargazer, the Hyundai Stargazer Cartenz, a higher-spec facelifted Stargazer, and the Hyundai Stargazer Cartenz X, the more rugged-looking of the Stargazer Cartenz. It is unclear yet which of these Hyundai Stargazers we will get later this year, as well as whether it will be CBU or CKD.
To paint a clear picture of Hyundai’s B-segment MPV, the Hyundai Stargazer is a three-row MPV powered by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated 4-cylinder Smartstream MPI engine producing 115 PS and 144 Nm of torque. The engine is paired to either an Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT – a CVT that uses a chain belt rather than a push belt) or to a 6-speed manual transmission, as it’s the norm in Indonesia.
Dimension-wise, the Hyundai Stargazer is 4,575 mm long and 1,780 mm wide, with the Hyundai Stargazer Cartenz X variant a further 35 mm longer and 40 mm wider because of the black cladding. Boot space with all the seats up is 185 litres and can go up to 535 litres with the third row folded.
In terms of safety, the Hyundai Stargazer in Indonesia comes equipped with the Hyundai SmartSense safety system, which includes safety features such as Forward Collision-avoidance Assist (FCA), Lane Following Assist (LFA), High Beam Assist (HBA), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Blind-spot Collision-avoidance Assist (BCA), Rear Cross-traffic Collision-avoidance Assist (RCCA), Rear View Monitor (RVM), and 6 airbags.
In Indonesia, the Hyundai Stargazer price starts at 269.9 million Rupiah (RM 63,157) and goes up to 391.9 million Rupiah (RM 91,705).
