Est. RM1.3 million, Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupé previewed in Malaysia – 1,169 PS, 697 km range

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has previewed the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 4-Door Coupé in Malaysia, with an estimated price of RM1,290,000. Registration of interest for the four-seater performance EV has now opened. Built on the AMG.EA architecture, it produces 1,169 PS from three axial-flux motors and features an 800-volt electrical architecture, offering AMG performance driving dynamics in EV form. The displayed model is actually the GT 55 variant in left-hand-drive guise.

Starting with the exterior, the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 4-Door Coupé features a dynamic fastback design, a low-slung bonnet, a steeply raked windscreen, and a distinctive rear diffuser. The front design features the AMG-specific grille with its vertical slats, which are offered for the first time in an illuminated and concave design. The likewise illuminated, centrally positioned Mercedes star and DIGITAL LIGHT headlights with star-shaped daytime running lights create a distinctive light signature.

The exterior mirrors are mounted directly on the doors, while the flush-fitting door handles help improve aerodynamic efficiency. The large 21-inch AMG forged cross-spoke wheels and long wheelbase further emphasise its sporty proportions. At the rear, there are six circular taillights in a turbine design with star graphics.

The Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupé gets several active aerodynamic features designed to increase downforce, improve stability, and reduce drag, while automatically adapting to the driving situation. These include active underbody elements, an active rear spoiler, and the advanced Airpanel system, which is positioned behind the left and right brake-cooling intakes.

Suspension-wise, the vehicle is equipped with AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL air suspension with semi-active roll stabilisation. It offers a wide range between sportiness and comfort thanks to its triple-adjustable air springs and semi-active roll stabilisation. An 8.2-litre pressure reservoir enables rapid raising and lowering, including speed-dependent ride-height adjustment to improve range.

As mentioned, this is an EV and, as such, it features three axial-flux motors, two positioned at the rear axle and one at the front, producing a combined maximum power output of 1,169 PS and up to 2,000 Nm of torque.

Drawing on experience from the Mercedes-AMG ONE hypercar and knowledge gained from the F1 programme, the AMG High Performance Electric Battery (AMG HP.EB) features three key technologies that contribute significantly to its performance: newly developed battery cells, an innovative direct cooling system for each cell, and a comparatively high operating voltage.

The battery has a capacity of 106 kWh and, with the 800-volt system, can be charged at up to 350 kW, taking the state of charge (SoC) from 10% to 80% in just 16 minutes. AC charging is supported at up to 11 kW, taking around 11 hours to charge from 0% to 100%. The WLTP range is rated at up to 697 km.

Inside, it features a driver-focused cockpit accompanied by three display screens: a 10.2-inch digital instrument display, a 14-inch infotainment touchscreen angled towards the driver, and a 14-inch front passenger display. Other highlights include the AMG RACE ENGINEER Control Unit on the centre console, consisting of three rotary dials that enable central and individual adjustment of response behaviour, cornering behaviour, and traction/slip behaviour.

More functions can be accessed through the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) system, which runs on the Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS). These include configurable displays, AI-powered assistants, and a range of AMG-specific features.

The system also allows drivers to customise the cabin’s sound character, with Powerful, Balanced, and Minimal settings, as well as a scale ranging from Classic to Futuristic. For those who want a more aggressive V8-like soundtrack, the AMGForce S+ mode recreates engine sounds sampled from the AMG GT R.

Despite its sporty character, the GT 4-Door Coupé retains the practicality of a four-seater, offering rear passengers generous legroom and comfortable knee angles. The optional Sky Control panoramic glass roof, made up of individually switchable segments and complemented by AMG-specific lighting, further enhances the sense of space inside the cabin.

To recap, the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 4-Door Coupé has been previewed in Malaysia with an estimated price starting from RM1,290,000. Registration of interest for the four-door performance EV has opened, with the vehicle estimated to arrive in Malaysia next year.
