Chery’s iCAUR to introduce V23 and 03 EV SUVs at Malaysia Auto Show 2025
Following its global debut at the 2025 Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition, Chinese electric vehicle (EV) brand iCAUR is officially making its way to Malaysia. The brand will be featured at the upcoming Malaysia Autoshow 2025 (MAS 2025), where its first two models—the iCAUR V23 and iCAUR 03—are scheduled for public display.
According to iCAUR Malaysia’s official social media channels, both models will mark the brand’s official local debut next week, signaling a significant step forward for Chery’s global EV expansion strategy.
If the name is unfamiliar, that’s by design. iCAUR is essentially the international name for Chery’s iCar brand, repackaged for global markets. The brand first appeared publicly at Auto Shanghai 2023 and is the product of a collaboration between Chery Automotive and tech firm Smartmi.
iCAUR’s vehicle lineup includes Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) and Range-Extended Electric Vehicles (REEVs), with a strong emphasis on youthful design, digital connectivity, and versatility. The company plans to enter more than 100 countries within the next three years, supported by over 2,000 planned sales and service centres.
iCAUR V23
Revealed in China in April 2024, the iCAUR V23 is the brand’s latest model and leads its product portfolio. The V23 is available in both rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD)configurations:
RWD Variant:
- Electric motor output: 136 PS (134 hp / 100 kW), 180 Nm
Battery options:
- 59.93-kWh LFP (up to 401 km)
- 81.76-kWh NMC (up to 550 km)
AWD Variant:
- Adds front motor: 75 PS (74 hp / 55 kW), 112 Nm
- Combined output: 211 PS (208 hp / 155 kW), 292 Nm
- Battery: 81.76-kWh NMC only (up to 501 km)
In China, the V23 retails between 109,800 and 149,800 yuan (approx. RM65,000 to RM89,000). With its off-road-inspired styling and practical dimensions—4,220 mm long, 1,915 mm wide, 1,845 mm tall, and 2,735 mm wheelbase—the V23 is positioned as a flexible option for urban and recreational use.
iCAUR 03
The iCAUR 03, unveiled earlier in 2023, was the brand’s first official model. It is slightly larger than the V23 and also offers both RWD and AWD variants:
RWD Variant:
- Motor: 184 PS (181 hp / 135 kW), 220 Nm
Battery options:
- 50.63-kWh LFP (401 km)
- 65.69-kWh LFP (501 km)
AWD Variant:
- Additional front motor: 95 PS (94 hp / 70 kW), 165 Nm
- Combined output: 279 PS (275 hp / 205 kW), 385 Nm
Battery options:
- 65.69-kWh (472 km)
- 69.77-kWh (501 km)
Dimensions come in at 4,406 mm (L), 1,910 mm (W), 1,715 mm (H), and a 2,715 mm wheelbase. In China, pricing ranges from 109,800 to 139,800 yuan (approx. RM65,000 to RM83,000).
Interestingly, this will not be the 03’s first appearance in Malaysia—it was previously previewed under a different name, the Jaecoo J6, during Malaysia Autoshow 2024.
A variant known as the iCAUR 03T also exists, featuring more rugged styling but maintaining the same mechanical specifications.
