GWM Malaysia secures 150 bookings for the Tank 500 HEV within the first 24 hours

Just a day after its official launch, the GWM TANK 500 HEV is already making waves in Malaysia. Great Wall Motor (GWM) Malaysia has announced that it has secured 150 bookings for the hybrid SUV

According to GWM Malaysia, the strong response reflects growing consumer interest in hybrid SUVs and marks a solid start for the Chinese automaker’s latest flagship model. Positioned as an off-road SUV with hybrid power, the TANK 500 HEV targets buyers looking for a combination of performance, practicality, and efficiency.

Under the hood, the TANK 500 HEV is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with an electric motor, delivering a combined output of 346 hp and 648 Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via a 9-speed automatic transmission with hybrid integration (9HAT), and the SUV also features a full-time four-wheel drive system with selectable driving modes for different terrains.

Measuring 5,078 mm long, 1,934 mm wide, and 1,905 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,850 mm, the TANK 500 HEV offers a commanding road presence. Inside, the cabin is fitted with luxury appointments such as Nappa leather upholstery, a 14.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Additional highlights include massaging front seats, a HUD (Head-Up Display), and a second-row captain seat configuration for added comfort.

On the safety front, it comes with a comprehensive ADAS suite, including adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, blind spot detection, lane keeping assist, and 360-degree camera with transparent chassis view.

To mark the milestone, GWM Malaysia is extending its Limited Edition Premium Gift Set offer for customers who place bookings by 18 May 2025. The company has not disclosed specific details about the gift set.
