BMW Malaysia unveils updated G20 BMW 3 series for 2025

BMW Malaysia has introduced a series of updates to the popular 3 Series, offering a mix of design tweaks, technology enhancements, and new color options. These changes aim to further elevate the driving experience and keep the 3 Series competitive in the mid-sized luxury sedan market.

The biggest shift inside the new 3 Series is the introduction of an M Sport steering wheel, now standard across all models. The wheel, with its signature 12 o’clock strap, is a subtle but clear nod to the car’s performance roots, adding a sportier touch to the sedan’s cabin.

On the tech side, the 3 Series now runs the latest BMW Operating System 8.5, a significant upgrade from previous versions. This system brings a new QuickSelect touch-based menu structure that promises faster and more intuitive access to vehicle features. BMW has also optimized the interface for the BMW Curved Display, a hallmark of the brand’s push for better integration of technology in their vehicles.

Other notable tech improvements include updates to the Parking Assistant, which now incorporates Video Augmented Reality (AR) features. This allows the car to display clearer guidance during parking maneuvers, utilizing a combination of camera and ultrasound technology. The BMW Drive Intelligent Personal Assistant also benefits from improved speech recognition, making it more responsive and capable of handling commands with greater precision.

In terms of exterior design, BMW has added two new metallic paint options to the 3 Series lineup: Fire Red metallic and Arctic Race Blue metallic. These join an already diverse palette, which includes Alpine White, Black Sapphire metallic, M Brooklyn Grey metallic, and M Carbon Black metallic. While the changes aren’t drastic, they give customers more choices when customising their vehicles.

These updates keep the BMW 3 Series aligned with the evolving demands of consumers, who are increasingly seeking more intuitive and user-friendly in-car technology. While the new M Sport steering wheel and refreshed tech interface might not be revolutionary, they further sharpen the 3 Series’ already strong position in the market.

Overall, the updated 3 Series will likely appeal to existing BMW enthusiasts while drawing in new buyers who value performance and modern tech. Whether these incremental changes are enough to sway potential customers remains to be seen, but for now, the 3 Series remains a solid contender in the competitive luxury sedan market.
