Aletra L8 EV MPV launched in Indonesia – electric Geely Jiaji gets 161 hp/240 Nm, up to 540 km

The Aletra L8, a fully-electric MPV, has been launched in Indonesia during the ongoing Gaikindo Jakarta Auto Week. Priced at 435 million rupiah (RM 122k) for the base L8 variant and 478 million rupiah (RM 134k) for the higher-spec L8s, it marks the debut of the Aletra brand under PT Sinar Armada Globalindo (PT SAG).

The L8 is based on the Livan Maple 80V L, the electric version of the Geely Jiaji. The Jiaji was previously listed among the three models that Proton had secured intellectual property rights to, alongside the Geely Boyue (Proton X70) and Geely Binyue (Proton X50).

While the latter two made their way to Malaysian roads, the Jiaji never did. Instead, Proton decided to introduce the Proton X90 that is based on the Geely Haoyue.

Back to the Aletra L8, it has been localised for the Indonesian market, featuring upgrades like a twin-compressor air-conditioning system, redesigned 18-inch alloys, and a subtly revised front fascia. The seven-seater configuration features a 2-2-3 layout.

The L8 is powered by a 161 hp/240 Nm front electric motor, accelerating the MPV to 100 km/h in 10.7 seconds and topping out at 160 km/h. Battery options differ between the two variants:

  • L8: 50.4 kWh LFP battery, 431 km range (CLTC)
  • L8s: 64.74 kWh short-blade battery, 540 km range (CLTC)

Both variants support quick charging, with the battery gaining 30-80% in approximately 30 minutes.

Equipment wise, the Aletra L8 offers:

  • Panoramic roof, 50W wireless charging, 72-colour ambient lighting, and six-way electrically-adjustable front seats, 7-inch TFT digital instrument panel, 12.4-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

In terms of safety, there are four airbags and stability control. No mention of ADAS but there is a 360-degree camera and blind spot monitoring.
