Ford Everest luxury variant teased for Malaysia ahead of June debut
Sime Darby Auto ConneXion-Ford has announced across social media a potential new luxury variant for the Ranger-based SUV with a caption that reads, “Something new is on the horizon. Arriving at The Arch Galleries, KL from 5 – 7 June”. The picture shared by Ford Malaysia includes a blacked-out rear end with illuminated taillights that are unmistakably from the Ford Everest, along with the tagline, “A new peak of luxury is coming”.
For context, the Ford Everest is currently offered in Sport, Trend, Titanium, and Wildtrak variants in Malaysia, with the Platinum being the only variant missing from the lineup. Looking back to 2023, Ford launched the Ford Ranger Platinum, a luxury-focused variant positioned above the Wildtrak. As such, one can assume that the newly teased Ford Everest is the Platinum variant, aligning with the “luxury” tagline.
Playing the guessing game, many of the luxury-oriented items and features from the Ford Ranger Platinum could be applied to the new Ford Everest Platinum. These may include matrix LED headlamps and silver-coloured trim on the front grille. Interior-wise, even more premium touches could make their way here, such as ambient lighting, matte wood trim, quilted leather upholstery, and ‘Platinum’ metal badges on the 10-way powered front seats with memory, heating, and ventilation functions. Audiophiles may also appreciate the addition of a Bang & Olufsen sound system.
Safety-wise, the new range-topping Ford Everest Platinum is expected to feature the full ADAS suite, similar to the Ford Ranger Platinum. This includes Automatic Emergency Braking with pedestrian protection, Adaptive Cruise Control with stop-and-go and lane centring, blind spot detection, evasive steer assist, hill launch assist, and hill descent control, among others.
Notably, some of the Ford Ranger Platinum features are already fitted to the Ford Everest Wildtrak, including the 20-inch alloy wheels, 12.4-inch instrument panel, and Active Park Assist 2.0. The Ford Everest Wildtrak is currently priced at RM339k, while the Ford Ranger Platinum commands a RM15k premium over the Ford Ranger Wildtrak. Will we see a similar price increase for the Ford Everest Platinum?
