2026 Honda Prelude launched in Malaysia at KLIMS – RM278k, hybrid coupe, S+ Shift
Honda Malaysia has launched the Honda Prelude in Malaysia at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS), priced at RM278,000. Available as a fully imported (CBU) model from Japan, the sixth-generation (BF1) Honda Prelude is designed as a sports grand tourer rather than a pure performance vehicle, featuring Honda’s advanced e powertrain with S+ Shift technology.
The Honda Prelude was developed around the grand concept of “Unlimited Glide”, inspired by gliders soaring freely through the open sky. As such, it features a low, sharp nose and smooth, expressive body lines that contribute to the uplifting sensation of gliding through the air, while maintaining a low and wide stance that evokes dynamic driving.
The headlights feature Adaptive Driving Beam (ADB) and Active Cornering Lights, accompanied by wing-shaped daytime running lights with moulded stripes that extend outward. The lower sections of the front and rear bumpers feature blue accents, while flush door handles and a black chrome grille create an elegant flow and sporty stance.
Dimension-wise, the Prelude measures 4,531 mm in length, 1,880 mm in width, and 1,356 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,606 mm. For reference, it is 147 mm shorter, 78 mm wider, and 59 mm lower than the Honda Civic FE Sedan.
Under the bonnet lies a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder (LFC-H4) engine paired with a two-motor hybrid system. Power is sent to the front wheels through an e-CVT featuring a simulated eight-speed S+ Shift mode. The powertrain produces a combined output of 203 PS and 314 Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100 km/h sprint in 8.2 seconds.
The S+ Shift mode simulates stepped gear changes, allowing drivers to use the paddle shifters behind the steering wheel for a more engaging driving experience. Combined with the Active Sound Control (ASC) system, engine sound is synchronised with engine speed through the speakers, enhancing the driving experience.
Honda engineers have also focused heavily on driving dynamics. The Prelude features the dual-axis strut front suspension and Adaptive Damper System (ADS) borrowed from the Honda Civic Type R, delivering exceptional handling performance. It also benefits from an enhanced Agile Handling Assist system, which enables seamless line-tracing from turn-in to corner exit while maintaining stability during cornering, even in emergency manoeuvres such as obstacle avoidance.
Complementing the chassis are 19-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 235/40 R19 Continental PremiumContact 6 tyres, paired with Brembo brakes featuring bright blue callipers, providing drivers with greater confidence on winding mountain roads and long-distance journeys.
Stepping inside, the uplifting sensation of gliding through the air continues throughout the cabin. Comfort is prioritised for both front occupants, with the driver’s seat designed to hold the driver firmly during spirited driving, while the front passenger seat offers a more relaxed and enveloping experience.
The upholstery features a striking two-tone combination of white and deep blue, creating a sense of exclusivity, while embroidered Prelude logos further enhance the premium feel. Other unique interior highlights include a flat-bottom steering wheel, alloy paddle shifters, and a high centre console featuring the eye-catching S+ Shift drive mode switch. Drivers can select from three drive modes: Sport, GT, and Comfort.
Mounted on the dashboard is a 9-inch infotainment touchscreen with Google built in, providing access to Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Play. An eight-speaker Bose sound system comes as standard.
At the rear are two individual seats with a 60:40 split-fold function, allowing greater cargo flexibility. The luggage compartment also features an underfloor storage compartment, cargo hooks, and a foldable cargo floorboard that can be positioned as a divider.
Safety-wise, the Honda Prelude comes equipped with the Honda SENSING advanced safety and driver-assistance suite, comprising:
- Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)
- Collision Mitigation Throttle Control
- Rear Collision Mitigation Throttle Control
- Low-Speed Brake Function
- Pedestrian Collision Mitigation Steering System
- Road Departure Mitigation System
- Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low-Speed Follow
- Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS)
- Traffic Jam Assist
- Lead Car Departure Notification System
- Traffic Sign Recognition
- Adaptive Driving Beam (ADB)
- Blind Spot Information System (BSI)

To recap, the Honda Prelude has been launched in Malaysia at a price of RM278,000. It also comes with a 5-year vehicle warranty with unlimited mileage, as well as a 10-year hybrid battery and components warranty with unlimited mileage. The model is fully imported from Japan and combines grand touring characteristics with hybrid efficiency, advanced driving dynamics, and a comprehensive suite of safety technologies.
