Subaru Unveils 2026 Crosstrek Hybrid with Next-Generation Powertrain
Geely announced a major step forward in artificial intelligence (AI) integration by successfully merging its self-developed AI model with DeepSeek’s R1 model. The goal of this collaboration is to redefine human-computer interaction and intelligent driving in smart cars while accelerating the adoption of AI technology in the automotive industry.
Following this integration, Geely will conduct distillation training on its Xingrui car control FunctionCall AI model using DeepSeekR1. Distillation is a process where a smaller AI model is trained using the outputs of a larger, more advanced model, thereby improving efficiency and performance.
Geely’s Xingrui AI model, introduced on January 11, has been positioned as “the world’s first full-stack self-developed full-scenario AI big model in the automotive industry.” It consists of three core models:
• Language Model – Enhancing natural voice interaction.
• Multimodal Model – Integrating various data inputs for improved decision-making.
• Digital Twin Model – Creating virtual replicas for simulations and optimizations.
This move underscores Geely’s commitment to pioneering AI applications in automotive technology.
Geely’s AI push aligns with broader industry trends in China, where automakers are leveraging cloud computing and AI to enhance the performance and personalization of new energy vehicles (NEVs). In fact, Geely’s “Smart Geely 2025” strategy aims to accelerate the adoption of cutting-edge AI technologies, including end-to-end voice interaction models, AI digital chassis, and advanced intelligent driving systems.
At the recent World Economic Forum in Davos, Pan Jian, co-chairman of battery giant CATL, emphasized China’s transition from EV (electric vehicle) to EIV (intelligent electric vehicle). According to him, intelligence is inseparable from China’s booming EV market, as the synergy between electrification and AI-driven intelligence creates unprecedented features that gasoline-powered cars cannot offer.
With AI becoming an integral part of the automotive industry, Geely’s collaboration with DeepSeek reinforces its position as a leader in smart vehicle innovation. As AI continues to evolve, this partnership could set new benchmarks for intelligent driving and redefine the driving experience in the years to come.
