2025 BYD Atto 2 now in Europe – Ativa-sized EV, 318km range

BYD has officially introduced the Atto 2 in Europe, marking another key step in the automaker’s global expansion. This fully electric SUV, which is sold as the Yuan Up in China and other markets, enters the European scene with two trim levels as it prepares for its official sales launch.

The BYD Yuan Up debuted in China in March 2024, priced between 96,800 and 119,800 yuan(approximately RM59,000 to RM73,000). Since its launch, the model has proven to be a success, selling 134,839 units in 2024 alone. Now, rebranded as the Atto 2, the EV aims to capture a similar audience in Europe. Positioned between the Dolphin hatchback and the Atto 3 crossover, it offers a balanced mix of size, performance, and affordability.

Built on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0 modular architecture, the Atto 2 brings a sturdy and modern aesthetic to the compact SUV segment. Key design elements include:

High bonnet line and plastic body trim, giving it a rugged stance.

Blackened pillars, creating a floating roof effect.

Dragon Face design language, featuring sleek headlights and a Möbius ring-inspired taillight unit, which BYD Europe describes as a symbol of endless luck.

Four color options: Green, Gray, White, and Black.

Dimensionally, the Atto 2 measures 4,310 mm in length, 1,830 mm in width, and 1,675 mm in height, with a 2,620 mm wheelbase—making it a well-proportioned urban crossover.

Inside, the Atto 2 offers a tech-forward cabin with premium materials and practical storage:

A 12.8-inch floating rotatable touchscreen paired with an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster.

Eco-friendly vegan leather upholstery.

Electrically adjustable and heated front seats.

A panoramic sunroof, adding to the sense of space.

400 liters of trunk space, expanding to 1,340 liters with the rear seats folded.

Powering the Atto 2 is a 45.12 kWh LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery, delivering:

174 hp and 290 Nm of torque from a single electric motor.

0-100 km/h acceleration in 7.9 seconds.

A top speed of 160 km/h.

312 km of range (WLTP cycle).

In terms of charging, the Atto 2 supports:

65 kW DC fast charging, allowing a 30-80% charge in just 28 minutes and 10-80% in 37 minutes.

11 kW AC charging, which is competitive for its class.

The BYD Atto 2 will be available in two trim levels in Europe:

1. Active (Base Model)

17-inch wheels

Leather seats

10.1-inch infotainment screen

Rear-view camera & rear parking sensors

Six airbags

Six-speaker audio system

2. Boost (Higher Trim Level)

Electrically folding side mirrors

Heated steering wheel & heated seats

Ambient lighting

Boost parcel shelf

Larger 12.8-inch infotainment screen

Upgraded eight-speaker sound system

Front parking sensors & 360-degree surround-view camera system

While BYD has not yet announced European pricing, the model’s competitive pricing in China suggests that it could be positioned as an affordable EV alternative in the European market. Given its size, features, and range, it is expected to compete with compact electric crossovers such as the MG ZS EV, Peugeot e-2008, and Hyundai Kona Electric.

With its modern design, practical interior, and balanced performance, the BYD Atto 2 is well-positioned to attract European buyers looking for an affordable, stylish, and efficient electric SUV. As BYD continues its aggressive international expansion, the Atto 2 could play a key role in strengthening the brand’s foothold in Europe.
