Zeekr 9X coming to Malaysia end of 2026 – 1,381 PS luxury PHEV SUV, 0 -100 in 3.1 seconds

The Zeekr 9X is now expected for Malaysia in late 2026, as announced by Zeekr Intelligent Technology General Manager, Eddy Lu, at the recent test drive event for Malaysian media and owners in Harbin, China. The Zeekr 9X is a six-seater plug-in hybrid premium SUV and is set as not the brand’s flagship model, but for the whole Geely Group.

The timeline now is for the Zeekr 9X to arrive by late 2026 or early 2027; more detailed news on the exact timeline is soon to come. The launch timing depends on the engineering process of converting the Zeekr 9X from left-hand drive (LHD) to right-hand drive (RHD), as well as meeting European vehicle regulations and standards, said Eddy Lu.

The Zeekr 9X comes powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged Super Hybrid Dedicated Engine, producing 275 PS, and comes in either dual-motor or triple-motor All Wheel Drive (AWD). The dual-motor variant produces a combined 885 PS and 935 Nm of torque, whereas the triple-motor variant produces up to 1381 PS and 1,410 Nm of torque, propelling it from 0 – 100 km/h in just 3.1 seconds.

The combined CLTC range of the dual-motor Zeekr 9X with a 70-kWh battery is up to 1,250 km, while the triple-motor Zeekr 9X with a 70-kWh battery configuration can go up to 1,165 km of CLTC range. The Zeekr 9x offers the option of either 55 kWh or 70 kWh battery packs.  The Zeekr 9x also features a 900V electrical architecture, built on the SEA-S platform. DC charging takes about 9 minutes, from 20% – 80 % of its 70-kWh battery.

Other notable features of the Zeekr 9X include a dual-chamber air suspension and a 48-volt active anti-roll bar, minimizing body roll during cornering for improved handling and comfort.  As expected from a flagship premium PHEV SUV, the Zeekr 9X is equipped with a 17-inch OLED display for the rear passengers, a built-in fridge with heating function, and a 32-speaker 3868 watts Naim sound system (including headrest speakers for the first and second rows). The second-row features two ventilated and heated captain seats with a massage function and can be rotated 180º degrees to face the third row.

While Zeekr Malaysia has not yet revealed which variants will come to our shores, it is safe to say the Zeekr 9X will be priced above RM 500,000. Comparing its features that can rival the Rolls-Royce Cullinan, which are priced well above RM 2,000,000, the Zeekr 9X seems to be quite the bargain.

Fruit for thought, the fully electric variant of the Zeekr 9X produces an output of 1030 kW from the triple-motor, meaning the highest annual EV road tax of RM 20,000 will be imposed if it ever comes to Malaysia. The incoming PHEV variant, which only boasts a 2.0-litre engine, equals an annual road tax of around RM 430 – RM 440 for the flagship premium SUV.
