W214 Mercedes-Benz E-Class launched in Malaysia, from RM356k

Unveiled to the world back in April 2023, the W214 Mercedes-Benz E-Class has finally landed in Malaysia. Long gone is the W213 as we finally welcome the new generation of Mercedes-Benz cars. With the E 200 Avantgarde as the entry-level model, prices for the W214 Mercedes-Benz E-Class in Malaysia start from RM355,888.

  • E 200 Avantgarde – RM355,888
  • E 350 e AMG Line – RM418,888

Initially planned as “bridging” model between the petrol Mercedes-Benz cars and the fully-electric “EQ” cars, the W214 adopts some “EQ” styling elements, most evidently at its front end. Although the “EQ” series seems to be coming to an end, it has at least passed down some of its styling elements to the W214 Mercedes-Benz E-Class.

In terms of dimensions, the all-new W214 Mercedes-Benz E-Class measures 4,949 mm in length, 1,880 mm in width, and 1,468 mm in height. Its wheelbase is now 22 mm longer than it used to be, now measuring 2,961 mm. As for luggage capacity, the new E-Class’s boot provides 540 litres of storage capacity.

Among the exterior highlights of the all-new W214 Mercedes-Benz E-Class would be its EQ-like grille, flush electric door handles, and triangular elements in its taillight cluster. Despite the EQ-like elements, the W214 maintains a rather classic three-box sedan body style.

Standard exterior items on the Mercedes-Benz E 200 Avantgarde include:

  • Avantgarde exterior
  • 19-inch multi-spoke light alloy wheels
  • LED high performance headlamps
  • Adaptive Highbeam assist
  • Illuminated door sill panels with “Mercedes-Benz” logo

The E 350 e AMG Line adds:

  • AMG Line exterior
  • AMG bodystyling
  • 20-inch AMG multi-spoke alloy wheels
  • DIGITAL LIGHT headlights
  • Panoramic sliding sunroof

Powering the Mercedes-Benz E 350 e (PHEV) is a 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-4 engine with hybrid assistance. The PHEV system outputs a maximum power of 230 hp and a maximum torque of 550 Nm. Just in case you were curious, the 2.0-litre turbo engine itself makes 320 Nm and 95 hp while the electric motor outputs 95 hp an 440 Nm at maximum. The E 350 e is able to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 6.4 seconds, onward to a top speed of 236 km/h.

The less powerful E 200 is also powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine that gets assistance from an integrated starter generator (ISG). The engine itself puts out 204 hp and 320 Nm, while the ISG puts out 23 hp and 205 Nm. The engine is paired with the brand’s 9G-Tronic automatic transmission.

The main highlight inside the W214 Mercedes-Benz E-Class would be the new “Superscreen” which is a combination of the “traditional” dashboard and the “Hyperscreen dashboard (from the EQS). There are a total of 3 screens on the dashboard with a head unit, a front passenger screen, and a floating digital instrument cluster.

The latest MBUX system now supports apps like Tiktok, Angry Birds, Webex, Zoom, and Vivaldi. At the centre of the dashboard is a conference camera to be used with the relevant apps. Another new thing for the MBUX system is newly designed icons that Mercedes-Benz claims to be more intuitive.
