Volvo EX60 teased: 810km range, AWD, debut in January
Volvo has just released teaser images of the upcoming Volvo EX60. As its name suggests, it is the electric version of the Volvo XC60. Full images have yet to be revealed, as that is set to take place on January 21st, 2026.
This is the sixth Volvo to use the ‘E’ naming convention to signify its electric vehicle lineup. Current electric Volvo models include the EX90, the EX40, and the EX30, which are SUVs. Together with their sole coupe crossover and MPV offering, the EC40 and the EM90, respectively.
The Volvo EX60 SUV boasts the best-in-class range of up to 810 km on a single charge with an AWD configuration. This demonstrates that switching to EV is no longer a compromise for long-distance travel.
Volvo Cars Chief Technology Officer, Anders Bell, stated “The EX60 is designed to be a gamechanger. With our new electric vehicle architecture, we directly address the main worries that customers have when considering a switch to a fully electric car. The result is class-leading range and fast charging speeds, marking the end of range anxiety.”
Volvo Cars engineers have optimized the EX60 range with the help of mega-casting. Smaller parts are replaced with a single, high-precision casting in the production process, reducing weight. A lighter car equals a longer range. Clever algorithms developed by Volvo Cars’ portfolio company Breathe Battery Technologies have also been incorporated, which allows the EX60 to constantly adjust the battery power intake in all weather conditions.
The Volvo EX60 also boasts the fastest charging of any EV Volvo to date. This is made possible by Volvo Cars’ 800-volt electrical system working together with in-house developed software, moving energy to the battery more efficiently. Practically speaking, by using a 400kW fast charger, the Volvo EX60 can charge up to 340 km of range in just 10 minutes. All Volvo EX60 customers are entitled to a 10-year battery warranty.
The Volvo EX60 will be revealed on January 21st, 2026. The entire reveal event will be livestreamed here.
