Neta V scores 0-star ASEAN NCAP rating, 0 points for Motorcyclist Safety

The Neta V has just scored a 0-star ASEAN NCAP rating, as published by ASEAN NCAP on December 6, 2024. The Neta V is dubbed as the cheapest EV in Malaysia, and it was launched in October 2023 with a price tag of RM100,000.

In the ASEAN NCAP rating, the Neta V scored 6.31/32.00 for Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), 34.46/51.00 for Child Occupant Protection (COP), 7.50/21.00 for Safety Assist, and 0/16.00 for Motorcyclist Safety (MS). This results in an overall score of 28.55 points which corresponds to a 0-star ASEAN NCAP rating.

The AOP scores are extremely low for the Neta V with the scoring 0 points in frontal impact. Both the driver and front passenger’s torso receive poor levels of protection, and the driver’s head receives poor levels of protection too. The Neta V is only equipped with two frontal airbags and its seatbelts are not equipped with pre-tensioners.

A relief perhaps for the Neta V, is that its COP scores aren’t extremely low. It scored 8 points for frontal impact and 4 points for side impact for children placed in child seats.

In terms of Safety Assist, the Neta V is unfortunjately not equipped with advanced safety features. It is equipped with the basic Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Electronic Stability Control (ESC), but it is not equipped with autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, forward collision system, dan lane keep assist. Thus pushing its ASEAN NCAP score further down.

A special safety aspect under the ASEAN NCAP test is motorcyclist safety, and in this department, the Neta V score 0 points out of 16. The Neta V is not equipped with blind spot detection, advanced rear visualization, auto high beam, and pedestrian protection. Earlier this year, the news was filled with the MG5 obtaining a 0-star ANCAP (Australasian NCAP) rating. Now, the Neta V pushes things further with a 0-star ASEAN NCAP rating…
