Michelin Primacy 5 tyres launched in Malaysia, from RM477

Michelin Malaysia has officially launched the MICHELIN Primacy 5, the latest addition to its renowned Primacy Series. Designed for passenger cars and crossovers—including both conventional and electric vehicles (EVs)—this new premium tire offers enhanced comfort, longevity, safety, and environmental sustainability under the tagline “Confidence Made to Last.”

With the growing popularity of electric vehicles and SUVs in Malaysia, the MICHELIN Primacy 5 is built to handle the unique demands of these modern automobiles. EVs, in particular, place greater stress on tires due to their increased horsepower and heavier weight. This latest model is optimized to address these challenges, delivering improved wear life, lower rolling resistance, and sustained wet grip performance—resulting in enhanced safety and lower running costs.

According to Prichapakorn Dangrojana, Managing Director of Michelin Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei:

“The new MICHELIN Primacy 5 was developed to meet the evolving demands of modern vehicles while reducing its environmental impact. It ensures a smoother and quieter driving experience while delivering long-lasting performance and safety.”

The MICHELIN Primacy 5 introduces several cutting-edge innovations:

Premium Comfort Drive – Featuring MICHELIN Silent Rib Gen-3 technology, the new tread pattern design significantly reduces vibrations and noise, ensuring a smoother, quieter, and more relaxed drive.

Superior Longevity – Offers 24% more mileage compared to other premium brands, thanks to a 10% increase in void ratio and optimized lateral groove edges, enhancing wet performance and overall tread life.

Enhanced Safety on Wet Roads – Braking distances are 8% shorter when new and 13% shorter when worn compared to other premium brands, due to Functional Elastomers 3.0, MICHELIN EverGrip, and EverTread Technologies, which improve water evacuation and wet braking performance.

EV Compatibility – A high-performance tread rubber compound reduces rolling resistance by 13%, improving energy efficiency and helping extend EV battery range.

As part of Michelin Group’s “All Sustainable” strategy, the MICHELIN Primacy 5 is engineered to minimize environmental impact:

5% lower rolling resistance, improving fuel efficiency and EV range.

18% longer lifespan, reducing tire waste.

6% lower environmental footprint, contributing to a more sustainable future.

The MICHELIN Primacy 5 is now available at authorized Michelin dealers across Malaysia in 25 sizes, ranging from 16 to 19 inches. The recommended retail price starts from RM477 to RM1,026. Tires 18 inches and above feature a next-level aesthetic sidewall with a full-ring velvet line for a more premium look.

From 6 January to 9 April 2025, Michelin customers in Malaysia have the chance to win a brand-new 2025 Tesla Model Y Facelift! Simply purchase at least two MICHELIN tires (any size) from participating dealers to enter the draw. Visit Michelin Malaysia’s official website for full terms and conditions.
