Luck goes to the R Engineering HMRT’S driver, Tauhid Anwar from Touring Production (T) as he was crowned the winner of his class in the Malaysia Championship Series (MCS) Round 1 Race 2 at Sepang International Circuit (SIC) today.
His rival, Mohd Yuszaidi Supangat was penalised 30 seconds (starting procedure infringement) and dropped to second place. The experienced driver, Faidzil Alang and his partner, Lee Kum Soon finished the race in third place.
Anwar, widely known as Avik Anwar is one of the top racers in his country, Bangladesh. Recently, he won the NGK Pro Car Championship in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. His first racing in Malaysia was back in 2019 with MCS and Sepang 1000KM Endurance Race (S1K).
He commented, “It was a great race, the race was fantastic. I’m still off the pace as I did only 9 laps with the car before the race. My car has a gearbox issue and it is quite challenging. I need to prepare myself better for the upcoming rounds.”
Mitchell Cheah and Brendan Anthony from Hirev Dream Chaser make an outstanding improvement for Race 2. Driving Suzuki Swift #100, they completed the race in first place leaving young talented drivers, Hayden Haikal and Naquib Azlan from Wing Hin Motorsport in second place. The pairing from Tedco Racing, Foo Yung Chieh and Aaron Lim settled in third place.
Brendan commented, “Today Mitchell drove very well. He did a very good job bringing the car home. I would like to thank him and the team for getting us the first place. He also did a good job coaching me throughout the weekend. I’m very thankful to the team and Mitchell himself.”
Mitchell added, “It’s been a perfect weekend so far. We did not expect to come this weekend stronger. As it was very last minute. I would like to thank the team for all the hard work on the car for the past few weeks.”
In Stock Production 1 (SP1), Putera Adam from R Engineering HMRT once again maintained his title as the winner. Same like Round 1 Race 1, runner up was awarded to his teammate, Farriz Fauzy while Al-Farouk and his partner, Baron Sim secured third place.
The female drivers, Sharina Ramlle and Ng Aik Sha from Pulzar Racing finished the race in 9th position. It was a great exposure and lots to learn for Ng Aik Sha in Stock Production 2 (SP2) with the guidance from Sharina and the team. As for her, the transition from gymkhana to racing in the track is a totally different ball game.
The battle continues with MCS Round 2 scheduled on 18 – 19 June 2022 at SIC. Free entry to the Main Grandstand and RM80 for Paddock entry.
