Honda Malaysia announces delivery delays, affected by chip shortage and COVID-19

Honda Malaysia has just announced that customers who have placed bookings for new Honda cars may experience delay in delivery due to the global chip shortage and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Besides delivery of new cars, the supply of replacement parts is also affected by the two major global events mentioned above.

According to Honda Malaysia, both COVID-19 and the global chip shortage have resulted in inconsistent production at their factory.

Honda Malaysia has also mentioned that the delays may extend beyond the SST exemption period (scheduled to end on 30th June 2022).

The statement posted on Honda Malaysia’s official website reads, “We deeply apologise for any inconvenience caused to our customers due to the delay in production and prolonged delivery. Honda Malaysia will continue to maximize our production output and deliver the new Honda vehicles to our customers as soon a possible. We would like to express our gratitude for your understanding on the current condition.”
