2026 Isuzu D-Max launched in Malaysia – from RM 104K, new 2.2L turbodiesel, minor changes

Isuzu Malaysia has launched the 2026 Isuzu D-Max starting from RM 103,121.20, featuring a new 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel engine called the RZ4F-TC Ddi. This new engine will replace the long-serving RZ4E-TC Ddi BluePower, which is a 1.9-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel unit. The new engine will be available in four models. The three models that do not receive the new 2.2-litre engine are the X-Terrain, the Premium V-Cross, and the Low Ride variants. All Isuzu D-Max variants have received updated pricing for 2026.

The new 2.2L engine produces 163 PS and 400 Nm of torque, which is more than the 150 PS and 350 Nm of torque offered by the 1.9L engine before. The new engine is also Euro-5 compliant and will be paired to either an 8-speed Rev Tronic automatic transmission or a 6-speed manual transmission, depending on the variant. The new 8-speed automatic transmission provides a wider gear ratio, allowing for smoother driving in all scenarios.

On top of the increase in displacement, the 2.2L engine gets redesigned cylinders with a high-flow lubrication system and a high-swirl combustion chamber to improve combustion efficiency. Among the other upgrades are ultra-low-friction pistons, an electronic variable geometry turbocharger, higher-pressure direct injectors, and a multi-core ECU. Isuzu claims fuel consumption to be 10.7% lower and the lowest carbon dioxide emissions in class.

Apart from what’s under the bonnet, several small changes have been made across all Isuzu D-Max variants. Focusing on the exterior first, the Isuzu D-Max arrives with these different exterior items, which are:

  • New radiator grille design (All variants)
  • New LED headlamps (All double cab auto variants)
  • New design fog lamp bezel (All variants except for single cab MT)
  • Machining spoke 18-inch alloy wheel (Premium variant)
  • Matt dark grey rugged spoke 18-inch alloy wheel (X-Terrain variant)
  • Black with silver garnish sidestep (Premium variant)
  • All black sidestep (X-Terrain variant)
  • New LED rear combination lamp (Premium & X-Terrain)
  • Tailgate assist damper (Standard to all high ride double cab, added for Standard AT/MT variant)
  • Inishmore Green Metallic colour (Premium & X-Terrain)
  • Obsidian Gray Mica colour (Premium & Auto Plus)
  • Namibu Orange colour (Expanded for all high ride automatic double cabs)
  • Mercury Silver and body coloured front bumper (Automatic single cab)

Stepping inside, small improvements and additions have also been made across all the new Isuzu D-Max variants. The Isuzu D-Max arrives with these different interior items, which are:

  • New design door seat pattern (X-Terrain & Premium)
  • Centre console with armrest (Single cab auto)
  • Leather seat patterns (X-Terrain & Premium)
  • Grey stitching fabric seat design (Auto Plus & Standard)
  • 10-inch head unit display (X-Terrain, Premium & Auto Plus)
  • 7-inch head unit display (Standard AT/MT)

The larger 3.0-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel 4JJ3-TCX engine mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission will continue to be offered on the Isuzu D-Max X-Terrain, the Isuzu D-Max Premium 3.0L variant, and the Single Cab 3.0L MT variant.

Isuzu Malaysia is also offering a free periodic maintenance service package for up to two years / 20,000 km (whichever comes first) for both the 2.2L and 3.0L engines, with service intervals of 5,000km, 10,000 km, and 20,000 km (three times free periodic maintenance).
