2025 BYD Atto 3 facelift – Subtle updates for the popular EV crossover
The BYD Atto 3, a key player in the resurgence of BYD’s presence in Malaysia, is getting a refresh for the 2025 model year. Known as the Yuan Plus in its home market, the electric crossover first entered production in 2022 and quickly gained popularity for its competitive pricing and solid battery range. Three years on, BYD has opted for a subtle facelift to keep it fresh and appealing to buyers.
The 2025 Atto 3 introduces modest updates, with the most noticeable changes at the front. The new bumper design features smaller air intake lobes and a larger central intake, complemented by smoother corner treatments likely aimed at improving aerodynamics. However, the headlights and decorative grille remain unchanged, preserving some of the model’s familiar styling cues.
At the rear, the updates are slightly more pronounced. The tail light clusters now feature a new LED ‘criss-cross’ design, echoing the styling seen on the updated BYD Dolphin. The rear bumper mirrors the aerodynamic tweaks of the front with revised trims, while the rear spoiler incorporates a redesigned third brake light.
Another significant design change is found in the windows. The outgoing model’s floating rear pillar and raking third window are replaced by a more conventional layout with larger third window openings, offering a cleaner and more practical look. Rounding out the exterior updates are new wheel designs for a refreshed stance.
Interior changes remain under wraps, but subtle updates to trim materials and finishes are expected. Enhancements to the infotainment system and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) could also be part of the facelift, ensuring the Atto 3 stays competitive in an increasingly tech-savvy market.
Despite the exterior revisions, the Atto 3 retains its proven powertrain and battery options. Documents from the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) confirm that the crossover will continue to use BYD’s Blade battery technology, available in two capacities: 50.25 kWh and 60.48 kWh. Both configurations deliver a maximum output of 201hp and 310Nm of torque, ensuring the same reliable performance buyers have come to expect.
The 2025 BYD Atto 3’s updates may be subtle, but they reflect BYD’s commitment to keeping the model fresh and competitive in the growing electric vehicle market. With its blend of improved aerodynamics, refined styling, and dependable powertrain, the Atto 3 continues to be a compelling choice for those seeking an affordable and efficient electric crossover.
Further details on the interior and technology updates are anticipated as the model approaches its official launch, so stay tuned for more information on BYD’s refreshed bestseller.
