UMW Toyota Motor maintains strong sales momentum in February with 6,632 units sold
UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) has recorded another strong month of sales, with 6,632 vehicles sold in February, bringing the company’s year-to-date (YTD) total to 12,015 units. The latest figures indicate continued consumer demand for Toyota’s lineup, reinforcing its position as one of the leading automotive brands in Malaysia.
Despite an increasingly competitive market, Toyota’s popular models—including the Vios, Hilux, and Corolla Cross—remain among the top choices for Malaysian buyers. The brand’s reputation for reliability, affordability, and aftersales service appears to be a key factor in its sustained success.
UMWT President Datuk Ravindran K. attributed the steady demand to Toyota’s focus on customer satisfaction and innovation.
“As we move further into 2025, our commitment remains on delivering quality vehicles and ensuring a seamless ownership experience for all Toyota customers,” he said.
Beyond new car sales, UMWT’s extensive nationwide 3S (Sales, Service, and Spare Parts) networkplays a crucial role in retaining customers. With 100 service centres across Malaysia, Toyota owners have access to aftersales support, which remains a key consideration for many buyers.
In 2024, UMWT serviced over 1.4 million vehicles, underscoring the scale of its aftersales operations. The company says it is continuing to invest in service quality, with plans to enhance technology, training, and accessibility for customers.
“We see ownership as a long-term commitment, and our focus is on ensuring that Toyota customers continue to receive reliable and professional aftersales support,”Datuk Ravindran added.
As part of its ongoing efforts to attract customers, UMWT has rolled out a series of promotions for March under the theme “A Journey of Gratitude”. The campaign includes:
• Discounts of up to RM9,500 on selected Toyota models
• Monthly instalments starting from RM658
• Toyota Service Savers package starting at RM33 per month to help customers manage long-term maintenance costs
While Toyota continues to lead in several key market segments, it faces increasing competition from both traditional rivals and newer entrants, particularly in the growing electric and hybrid vehicle space. Moving forward, it remains to be seen how UMWT adapts to changing consumer preferences and the broader shift towards electrification in Malaysia’s automotive industry.
