Rolls-Royce Spectre Black Badge: The Most Powerful Rolls Ever
Since 2016, Rolls-Royce has reserved the “Black Badge” designation for its high-performance models, elevating luxury and performance to new heights. However, the brand had never extended this treatment to an electric vehicle—until now. The Rolls-Royce Spectre Black Badge breaks new ground as the first electric model to carry the Black Badge moniker, delivering even greater power and a more dynamic driving experience.
The standard Spectre was already an engineering marvel, but the Black Badge variant pushes the boundaries further. With 659 horsepower and 1,074Nm of torque, it surpasses the traditional V12-powered Rolls-Royce models in sheer output. Compared to the regular Spectre, which delivers 577 hp and 900Nm, the Black Badge sees an increase of 82 hp and 173Nm.
This added power results in improved acceleration, with the Black Badge sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.1 seconds—three-tenths of a second quicker than the standard Spectre. While these numbers might not match the blistering speeds of some high-performance supercars, they are astonishing for an 2,948kg ultra-luxury coupe.
To harness the full potential of its electric motors, Rolls-Royce introduces a new Infinity Mode, activated by a button on the steering wheel. This mode unlocks the Black Badge’s maximum 659 hp and enhances throttle response, making the car feel more agile and engaging. Additionally, a Spirited Mode acts as a launch control system, providing instant access to full torque and delivering peak performance in straight-line acceleration.
Beyond raw power, Rolls-Royce has fine-tuned the chassis and suspension to match the Black Badge’s newfound performance. Revised dampers minimize squat under hard acceleration or braking, while increased steering weight and roll stabilization contribute to sharper handling and reduced body roll.
With great power comes… slightly reduced efficiency. The standard Spectre offers a 445-kilometre range, but the Black Badge sees a slight dip due to its performance enhancements. Equipped with 22-inch wheels, it achieves 428 kilometres per charge. Opting for the larger 23-inch wheels—available in part-polished or all-black finishes—reduces the range further to 403 kilometres
While this decrease may seem significant, the Spectre Black Badge remains one of the longest-range luxury EVs on the market, prioritizing effortless cruising over hyper-efficiency.
A Rolls-Royce isn’t just about performance; it’s also about personal expression. The Black Badge model offers unique customization options, including the exclusive Vapor Violet paint paired with an Iced Black hood. Owners can also choose from Charles Blue, Chartreuse, Forge Yellow, or Turchese to create a truly one-of-a-kind aesthetic.
The darkened trim characteristic of Black Badge models is present, as is an illuminated grille, which, in press images, features a purple accent that complements the exterior. The striking “waft” coachline can be applied to the lower half of the car, further emphasizing the coupe’s elegant yet aggressive stance.
Inside, the Spectre Black Badge features a blend of carbon fiber, metal, and fine wood trim, exuding modern luxury. The piano-black dashboard is adorned with 5,500 illuminated stars and a glowing infinity symbol, symbolizing limitless potential. Each interior component undergoes a meticulous process, with six layers of lacquer applied before being manually polished to perfection. For an extra touch of personalization, the digital instrument cluster offers five unique themes to match the owner’s style.
As expected, exclusivity comes at a cost. The Spectre Black Badge starts at $490,000 (RM2,188,100), making it $67,250 (RM300,000) more expensive than the standard Spectre. Given Rolls-Royce’s tradition of bespoke customization, final prices can easily climb higher depending on the owner’s specifications.
The Spectre Black Badge isn’t just a more powerful version of the already impressive Spectre—it’s a statement. As the most powerful Rolls-Royce ever, it proves that electric powertrains can maintain the brand’s legendary waftability while delivering exhilarating performance. With its striking design, cutting-edge technology, and uncompromised luxury, the Spectre Black Badge ushers Rolls-Royce into the EV era without sacrificing an ounce of its signature opulence.
