Mitsubishi teases new 7-seater SUV concept – Is it the new Pajero?

Mitsubishi Motors has released teaser images of an upcoming Mitsubishi 7-seater SUV Set to make its debut at the 9th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS), it will be the brand’s first ever world premiere in the Philippines. Traditionally, such global debuts have taken place in other key markets like Thailand or Indonesia. However, the Philippines, which is now the central focus of MMC, takes the spotlight this year.

Likely a prelude to a new version of the Pajero, Mitsubishi Motors says that this new 7-seater embodies Mitsubishi Motors’ commitment to provide fulfilling mobility lifestyles that “awaken the adventurous spirit of drivers and provide excitement for everyone on board”.

With only two images officially shared by Mitsubishi Motors for the time being, we get a glimpse of the headlight design, the grille, the D-pillar, and a bit of the taillight design. What we can say is that it the design language of the Xforce has been implemented into this new concept 7-seater SUV.

The headlights have a similar design to the ones found on the Xforce and the grille sports a similar hexagonal pattern, albeit as an overlay. The taillights have a similar vertical design to the Xforce’s and the rear pillar sports 4 sipes that give a sporty feeling.

Mitsubishi Motors Philippine Corporation (MMPC) President & CEO, Ritsu Imaeda said, “The decision to have the world premiere in the Philippines is a testament to the country’s growing importance within Mitsubishi Motors’ global operations. This new concept reflects Mitsubishi Motors’ vision of delivering top quality vehicles to the ASEAN region, and we are thrilled that this will be showcased for the first time in the Philippines.”

While the concept 7-seater SUV by Mitsubishi Motors is being teased, other Mitsubishi 7-seater SUVs have also been in the news recently. The new Xpander facelift has been launched in  Malaysia (albeit with a  4-speed auto gearbox), and the Outlander has just been given an update.
