Mercedes-Benz Malaysia appoints Martin Schulz as new CEO, succeeds Amanda Zhang
Effective February 1st, 2026, Martin Schulz has succeeded Amanda Zhang as Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s new Chief Executive Officer and President, succeeding Amanda Zhang. According to Mercedes-Benz Malaysia, Schulz has also been appointed head of the newly integrated Southeast Asian region, which covers the four key markets: Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Martin Shulz says, “I am thrilled to return to Asia and lead our teams in Malaysia and across Southeast Asia. This is a period of immense opportunity, and I look forward to working closely with colleagues and retail partners to deliver exceptional customer experiences and reinforce our leadership in luxury mobility.”
Martin Schulz, who joined Mercedes-Benz back in 1999, brings a wealth of international experience, previously serving as CEO in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Romania, in addition to over 10 years in senior management roles across Vietnam, Thailand, and Korea before. Most recently, Schulz was based in Stuttgart, Germany, at Mercedes-Benz headquarters, serving in various sales and marketing roles.
He added, “I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Amanda and her team for their outstanding achievements, her support in ensuring a smooth transition, and her ongoing guidance on key strategic initiatives for our business in Southeast Asia.”
Amanda Zhang will remain on the board of directors and will serve as a senior advisor to the automotive firm. Zhang has held senior leadership roles across Europe and Southeast Asia, guiding Mercedes-Benz through major transformations over her two-decade career. Her tenure saw the expansion of the electric vehicle charging ecosystem, with profitable regional markets, as well as spearheading Southeast Asia’s first ‘Retail of the Future’ agency model, and launched the first flagship luxury format, Stars@Mercedes-Benz Bangsar.
