Leaked: Electric MINI Cooper S seen in China, with bizarre taillights

Photos of the electric MINI Cooper S have been leaked, allegedly originating from a facility in China.

With no announcements by MINI/BMW only announcing the upcoming all-electric MINI Countryman, these photos come as a surprise and might have just spoiled a possibly mind-blowing unveiling of the electric MINI Cooper S.

And it would have been a fantastic reveal without this leak, since the design of the MINI has changed drastically, especially in the rear area.

The taillights have undergone a major design change, giving the current bulbous-and-bulldog-like shape of the “New” MINI a more angular and might we say, “cyberpunk-ish” treatment.

Spidey is that you?

What seems to remain of the current MINI’s taillight design are lines that hint at the iconic Union-Jack pattern.

As for the front-end, the shape is still recognizably a MINI’s, albeit with the elimination of the hood scoop (No more turbocharger now). The iconic bulldog face remains.

On the inside, an obvious change is the large circular touchscreen unit and large HUD.

For a quick recap, the first all-electric MINI was the MINI E (2009), followed by the MINI Cooper SE (2020). With the MINI brand aiming to be fully-electric by 2031, the sporty Cooper S will soon join the electric line-up.
