Launching soon in Malaysia: 2025 Mazda CX-60 – est. RM199k, CBU, 2.5L NA, RWD

The 2025 Mazda CX-60 is expected to be launched in Malaysia soon as Mazda dealers are now accepting bookings, as seen on their social media pages. The Mazda CX-60 is estimated to retail at RM198,900, offered in a single 2.5G 2WD High variant, fully imported (CBU) from Japan, with deliveries slated to begin from September 2025.

Powering the CX-60 is a 2.5-litre naturally aspirated 4-cylinder petrol engine paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, sending drive exclusively to the rear wheels (RWD). However, there’s a discrepancy when it comes to output figures.

In Japan and Indonesia, this engine is rated at 188 PS and 250 Nm, while Singapore quotes slightly higher figures of 191 PS and 261 Nm. It’s unclear for now which version Malaysia will receive, but both are expected to be mechanically similar. The likely explanation lies in different market tuning, fuel quality or test protocols.

The engine choice itself is not surprising. Given our road tax structure and pricing strategy, official distributor Bermaz Motor’s decision to go with the 2.5L NA is logical. More powerful options like the inline-six or plug-in hybrid may be considered if there’s sufficient market demand.

Although official specs have yet to be confirmed, all signs point to Malaysia receiving the updated 2025 model year CX-60. A strong hint is the inclusion of Zircon Sand paint option, a new exterior colour introduced globally with the update.

The 2025 refresh brings improved refinement, which was an issue in earlier models highlighted by media and customers globally. Mazda reworked the rear suspension with softer springs and firmer dampers to enhance ride comfort and stability, and revised the eight-speed transmission for smoother gear shifts and better response.

Five colours are expected to be offered here: Soul Red Crystal, Platinum Quartz, Rhodium White, Jet Black and the aforementioned Zircon Sand.

Equipment highlights based on dealer info include:

  • 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster
  • 12.3-inch infotainment display
    Leather seat upholstery
  • Dual-zone climate control with rear vents
  • Panoramic sunroof
  • 20-inch wheels
  • Head-up display
  • Mazda i-Activsense safety and driver assist features

Positioned above the Mazda CX-5, the CX-60 is a larger and more premium SUV. It measures 4,740 mm long, 1,890 mm wide and 1,680 mm tall, riding on a 2,870 mm wheelbase. For reference, the CX-5’s measures 4,575 mm long, 1,845 mm wide, 1,675 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,700 mm.

While it’s priced above the range-topping CX-5 2.5T AWD (RM188,760), which makes 231 PS and 420 Nm, the Mazda CX-60 differentiates itself with a RWD layout, larger dimensions, more upscale features, and updated underpinnings. Not forgetting, of course, it will arrive as a CBU model. Expect final specifications to be confirmed closer to launch.
