Jaecoo J8 launched in Malaysia – From RM 179k, up to 6 seats, 249 PS/385 Nm, 2WD/AWD
The Jaecoo J8 has been launched in Malaysia. Priced at RM 178,800 for the 2WD five-seater and RM 198,800 for the AWD six-seater, the Jaecoo J8 is locally assembled (CKD) at Chery’s plant in Shah Alam and now serves as the brand’s flagship SUV in Malaysia.
Jaecoo J8 Exterior
Positioned in the D-segment SUV category, the Jaecoo J8 measures 4,820 mm long, 1,930 mm wide, 1,699 mm tall, and has a 2,820 mm wheelbase. That puts it in competition with models like the Mazda CX-8 and Proton X90.
Design-wise, the Jaecoo J8 features a large front grille, full-width LED taillights, blacked-out D-pillars, and pop-out door handles. Both variants ride on 20-inch alloy wheels. The Jaecoo J8 2WD comes in Carbon Crystal Black, Khaki White, and Olive Grey. The Jaecoo J8 AWD uses the same colour palette but adds a two-tone scheme with a contrasting black roof.
Jaecoo J8 Powertrain
Under the bonnet, the Jaecoo J8 is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-four engine producing 249 PS and 385 Nm of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The 2WD variant sends power to the front wheels, while the AWD version – as its name suggests – distributes torque to all four wheels.
The AWD variant does 0 to 100 km/h in 9.0 seconds, with a top speed of 200 km/h. It also includes Continuous Damping Control (CDC) adaptive suspension and a 450 mm water wading depth.
Jaecoo J8 Interior
The Jaecoo J8 interior is equipped with twin 12.3-inch displays (digital instrument cluster and infotainment touchscreen) housed in a single widescreen panel. Across the range, buyers get panoramic sunroof and ambient lighting.

The Jaecoo J8 is covered by a 7-year/150,000 km vehicle warranty and a 10-year/unlimited mileage engine warranty. Early birds (for bookings placed up to 21 July 2025) are entitled to a 1-year free insurance coverage under the Jaecoo Prime Protection Programme.
