Creativity pays off: Volkswagen Malaysia awards photo contest winner with Fujifilm camera and one-year contract
What do love, life, and Volkswagens have in common? Apparently, a knack for showing up in great photos. Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM), together with Fujifilm Malaysia, has announced the winners of its Shutter Stories photography contest.
Over 30 submissions poured in from Malaysians across the country, each capturing a personal take on the themes of VW Love, VW Adventure, VW People, VW Motion, and VW Life & Colours. The brief was to submit five frames, two of which must feature a Volkswagen.
The grand prize went to 35-year-old Hasanul Asyraf bin Hanafi, whose entries not only bagged him a Fujifilm camera and lens set worth RM7,000, but also landed him a one-year photography contract with VPCM and a mentorship under commercial photographer Aaron Lee.
Runner-up Kelvin Ooi, 23, took home a Fujifilm Instax Mini 99 with film, while second runner-up Neeventhaa Perabagaran, a 19-year-old MMU student, earned a Fujifilm Instax Pal and exclusive Volkswagen merchandise.
Thomas Kwan, Electronic Imaging & Instax Division Senior Sales and Marketing Manager Fujifilm (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd., said, “We’re thrilled to collaborate with Volkswagen Malaysia on the launch of the Volkswagen Shutter Stories photography contest. This partnership brings together a shared passion for innovation, creativity, and excellence. At Fujifilm, we believe in the power of photography to tell compelling stories, and we have seen how creatively participants interpreted the essence of Volkswagen through their unique perspectives.”
Charles Lim, Brand Manager of VPCM, said, “Volkswagen is more than just cars—it’s about connection, character and celebrating the joy of the journey and creating relationships for life. The brand already holds a special place in the hearts of many—not only among our passionate owners, but also those who resonate with the spirit of fun, style, and bold individuality that our cars embody.”
