Est. RM 220k, Omoda C9 PHEV launching in Malaysia soon
Omoda | Jaecoo Malaysia has teased via social media that the Omoda C9 PHEV will launch on March 18th, 2026. The plug-in hybrid variant of the Omoda C9 was previewed back on August 21st, 2025, alongside the recently launched Jaecoo J5.
The hybrid D-segment SUV is estimated to be priced at RM 220,000, with a ‘super early bird’ package that includes a RM 3,888 rebate and a vehicle-to-load (V2L) connector cable worth RM 730. For context, the Omoda C9 internal combustion engine models are currently priced at RM 169,000 (2WD) and RM 189,000 (AWD).
The Omoda C9 PHEV is equipped with an upgraded version of the 5th-generation 1.5 TGDI Super Hybrid System (SHS) from the Jaecoo J7 PHEV. While the 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine remains, producing 143 PS and 215 Nm of torque, it is now paired with dual electric motors at the front: a P2 integrated starter-generator making 102 PS and 170 Nm, and a P2.5 traction motor producing 122 PS and 220 Nm.
The single-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT) from the J7 PHEV has been replaced by a three-speed unit. At the rear, a 230 PS, 310 Nm motor powers the rear wheels, providing an All-Wheel Drive (AWD) setup. The total system output is rated at 537 PS and 650 Nm, achieving 0–100 km/h in 4.9 seconds with a top speed of 179 km/h.
Under the floor sits a 34-kWh NMC battery, delivering a pure electric WLTP range of up to 145 km. Combined with the 70-litre fuel tank, the Omoda C9 PHEV has a claimed combined range of 1,100 km. DC fast charging supports up to 70 kW, charging the battery from 30% to 80% in around 25 minutes. AC charging supports up to 6.6 kW, charging from 30% to 100% in 5.5 hours.
Design-wise, little has changed compared to the Omoda C9 ICE variant. On the outside, the front lower bumper has a small break in the middle, an additional charging port has been added on the left side, and a stylised ‘PHEV’ badge appears at the rear. The ‘C9’ emblem is now in blue. Inside, the only change is the drive mode dial, which now includes EV and HEV modes.
That is all the information currently available about the Omoda C9 PHEV, which is set to launch on March 18th, 2026. More details will be revealed soon.
