Fr RM117k, MG S5 EV officially launched in Malaysia – RWD, 170 PS, up to 430 km range

The MG S5 EV is now officially launched in Malaysia with the finalised pricing. Three variants are available, starting with the Com 49 kWh at RM116,548, followed by the Com Long Range (62 kWh) at RM126,548, and topping out with the Lux Long Range (62 kWh) at RM136,548. All prices are on-the-road without insurance.

Early birds can enjoy a RM6,000 cash rebate and a complimentary 7kW wallbox for the first 500 units. This effectively brings pricing down to RM110,548, RM120,548 and RM130,548 respectively.

For reference, the Proton’s eMas 7 goes from RM109,800 to RM123,800, while the BYD Atto 3 Ultra is priced at RM123,800 or RM118,800 with promo.

Compared to the Proton eMas 7, the MG S5 is 139 mm shorter, 52 mm narrower, and 49 mm lower, with a 20 mm shorter wheelbase. It’s slightly larger overall than the BYD Atto 3. There’s no frunk.

The MG S5 EV comes with a seven-year/150,000 km warranty for the vehicle, while the high-voltage battery is covered for eight years or 180,000 km. The drive motor and motor control unit (MCU) are also backed by an eight-year/160,000 km warranty.

Five exterior colours are offered, which are Arctic White, Monument Silver, Camden Grey, Dynamic Red and Elegant Latte, the last of which is exclusive to the range-topping Lux Long Range variant.
