Chery Malaysia launches CSH, previews Tiggo 7 and 8 PHEVs again – launching later this year
Chery Malaysia has launched its Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) branding and showcased the Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8 plug-in hybrids (PHEVs). Both SUVs were already previewed at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025 earlier this year, and the Tiggo Cross Hybrid was the first to carry the CSH name just two weeks ago.
What’s different this time? Not much, just greater insight into the hybrid system.
What is CSH?
Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) is the new branding that Chery will use for all its electrified models in Malaysia, covering both hybrids and plug-in hybrids. The Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8 CSH previewed here are PHEVs, unlike the Tiggo Cross Hybrid which was a standard series-parallel hybrid without plug-in capability.
Both PHEVs use a 1.5-litre turbocharged Miller-cycle engine producing 143 PS and 215 Nm, paired with a 204 PS, 310 Nm electric motor. The motor is integrated into a DHT150 two-speed transmission. Combined output is 347 PS and 525 Nm. An 18.3 kWh LFP battery provides up to 90 km of EV-only range and up to 1,200 km of total driving range. Claimed fuel consumption is 1.3 L/100 km.
Charging is available at 40 kW DC (30 to 80 percent in 19 minutes), 6.6 kW AC (3 hours), or a regular three-pin socket (full charge in 8.5 hours). Both models support 3.3 kW vehicle-to-load (V2L) output.
The Tiggo 7 PHEV gets a new grille and a revised bumper with black inserts. The rear features a full-width light bar. Inside, it keeps the dual-screen layout but adds a crystal gear selector and replaces silver trim with faux carbon fibre.
Meanwhile, the Tiggo 8 PHEV gets flush door handles, new front grille, new headlights, and a new rear diffuser with trapezoidal exhaust surrounds. The interior is redesigned with a freestanding infotainment screen, rotary gear selector, and a centre console that flows into the dashboard. Physical climate controls are gone, replaced by a touchscreen setup. It also includes dual wireless phone chargers, one of which is air-cooled.
Final specifications have yet to be confirmed, but both models are expected to go on sale later this year.
