Dato’ Azizulhasni Awang appointed as Volkswagen Malaysia’s first brand ambassador
Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has announced national cycling icon Dato’ Azizulhasni Awang as its first-ever brand ambassador. Hailing from Terengganu, the Olympic bronze medallist is better known by his nickname, The Pocket Rocketman.
“Azizul’s story is one of extraordinary ambition, agility and drive. Much like our cars, he represents performance that is purposeful and enduring. He is not just a champion on the track — he’s a role model off it. We are honoured to have him as part of the Volkswagen family,” said Renate Noessler, managing director of VPCM.
The company says the partnership reflects shared values of performance, precision and long-term confidence that goes beyond traditional endorsements. “It reflects a deep connection with Malaysians who value performance, integrity, and long-term confidence in what they drive,” Renate added.
“I’ve always believed that success is built on consistency, detail and the courage to take on challenges — values that align perfectly with Volkswagen. To be chosen as their first ambassador is a true honour. This partnership isn’t just about cars or cycling — it’s about inspiring Malaysians to go further, faster and never settle,” said Azizulhasni.
As part of the collaboration, Azizulhasni will be featured in Volkswagen Malaysia’s upcoming campaigns, digital content and events. According to the company, the partnership also aims to deepen engagement with the community and highlight the brand’s commitment to quality, individuality and human connection.
