BMW i5 eDrive40 M Sport gets optional M Performance Parts, worth up to RM64k

BMW Group Malaysia recently celebrated the latest generation of the BMW 5 Series (G60) in Kuala Lumpur. During the celebration, BMW Group Malaysia showcased the new BMW 520i M Sport and the existing BMW i5 eDrive40 M Sport, but kitted out with the new optional M Performance parts. Yes, you can now make the single-motor i5 eDrive40 look even sportier than the dual-motor i5 M60 xDrive.

With the newly launched optional M Performance parts, you can add the following items to the BMW i5 eDrive M Sport:

Optional M Performance part Price
M Performance Rear Spoiler Carbon Pro RM5,849.33
M Performance Mirror Caps RM11,989.40
M Performance Side Skirt Attachment RM12,164.18
M Performance Rear Diffuser Insert Aramid RM17,241.65
M Performance Front Splitter Carbon (left & right) RM7,450.24
M Performance Front Attachment Carbon (left & right) RM9,169.62
21-inch M Performance Light Alloy Wheels
(Cross-spoke Style 943 M Bicolour wheelset)

RM41,219.73
TOTAL RM63,864.42

Adding up to a total of RM63,864.42, the M Performance parts can be purchased separately, depending on how extreme you would like your i5 eDrive40 to look. And although it may end up looking sportier than the higher-performance i5 M60, one quick telltale sign that it isn’t the M60 would be its grille which is still the standard grille for the i5 and not the “M” grille that the i5 M60 has.

No M Performance parts are available for the interior, thus you still get the same M Sport cabin with the M Leather steering wheel, M Anthracite headliner, Dark silver M accents combined with aluminium rhombicle, and the BMW Individual Leather ‘Merino’.

The standard Kidney grille is the biggest giveaway that it isn't the i5 M60

The optional kit is purely cosmetic and as such, the performance levels of the i5 Drive40 remain the same. It is still the same rear-wheel drive (RWD) single-motor electric sedan that puts out 340 PS and 400 Nm. with this setup, the i5 eDrive40 M Sport is capable of a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 6 seconds.

As for charging, the BMW i5 eDrive40 M Sport supports AC charging of up to22 kW and DC charging of up to 205 kW. The former charges the car from 0 to 100% in 4 hours and 15 minutes while the latter charges the car from 10% to 80% in 30 minutes.

And as for safety the BMW i5 eDrive40 M Sport comes with the BMW Driving Assistant Professional package as well as the Parking Assistant Plus package. The two packages cover items like Active Cruise Control (ACC) with Stop & Go and Active Park Distance Control.
