2025 Volvo ES90 unveiled – 700km WLTP range, 800V architecture
Volvo has officially unveiled the all-new ES90, a groundbreaking addition to its electric lineup that defies conventional vehicle categories. Is it a sedan? A fastback? Or an SUV? The answer is all of the above. By blending the best aspects of these segments, the ES90 creates a category of its own, offering premium comfort, advanced technology, and an uncompromising electric driving experience.
The ES90 boasts a sleek yet confident stance, combining the refined elegance of a sedan, the adaptability of a fastback, and the spacious practicality of an SUV. With a slightly raised ride height, drivers enjoy an enhanced view of the road, while the flowing roofline optimizes both aesthetics and aerodynamics.
At the front, Volvo’s iconic Thor’s Hammer LED headlights give the ES90 a modern yet familiar identity. The rear is equally striking, featuring C-shaped LED taillights and a distinctive light sequence that welcomes and bids farewell to its driver. Buyers can choose from seven exterior colorsand wheels ranging from 20 to 22 inches, allowing for further personalization.
The practicality of the ES90 shines through its spacious cargo capacity. A large tailgate hatchensures easy loading and unloading, with a trunk space of 424 liters that expands to 733 liters when the rear seats are folded down. An additional 22-liter frunk provides extra storage, perfect for charging cables.
Step inside the ES90, and you’re greeted with a Scandinavian-inspired interior that prioritizes comfort, technology, and sustainability. The long 3.1-meter wheelbase ensures generous legroom for all passengers, while six ambient lighting themes create a calming atmosphere.
A panoramic roof with 99.9% UV protection is standard, with an optional electrochromic glass that allows drivers to adjust transparency at the touch of a button. To enhance air quality, Volvo includes a four-zone climate system with an advanced air purifier, certified as asthma and allergy-friendly. This system blocks 95% of PM2.5 particles and removes 99.9% of allergens.
The cabin’s silence takes comfort to a new level. With one of Volvo’s quietest interiors ever, the ES90 enhances its Bowers & Wilkins sound system, which boasts 25 high-fidelity speakers—including headrest and ceiling speakers—and Dolby Atmos® spatial audio. An exclusive Abbey Road Studios mode replicates the legendary acoustics of the famous London studio.
The ES90 is built on Volvo’s SPA2 architecture, using the company’s Superset tech stack—a next-gen platform designed for software-defined vehicles. The heart of this system is its dual NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Orin processors, making the ES90 the most powerful Volvo ever in terms of computing capacity. This allows for continuous performance and safety improvements via over-the-air updates.
The infotainment system features Google built-in, with Google Maps, Google Assistant, and Google Play apps. A 5G-powered Snapdragon® Cockpit Platform ensures seamless operation, displayed on a 9-inch driver display, a 14.5-inch center touchscreen, and an advanced 3D 360° camera system for enhanced parking assistance.
The ES90 is Volvo’s first model to feature 800V battery technology, offering:
